Making your bed right can get you off to a good start in the day and give you a chance to feel more organized. Here's how to fix it in minutes and give it a special touch.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Part 1: Protect the Bed

Step 1. Cover the sommier, if the bed has one, with a valance for the bed frame, so you will decorate it and not let it get dusty

You don't have to wash it as often as the sheets.

Not all beds need them: if yours doesn't have a sommier, it's a sofa bed or a waterbed, skip this step

Step 2. Protect the mattress with a mattress cover of the right size

Place it well in the corners so it doesn't move.

Smooth it with your hands from the center out to remove creases and wrinkles

Method 2 of 3: Part 2: Making the Bed

Step 1. Adjust the bottom sheet, the corners of which are usually elastic to keep it from shifting

Make sure it is the same size as the mattress.

  • To begin, pull it to cover two corners.
  • Afterwards, pull it and smooth it to cover the other two corners and stop it.
  • Continue smoothing the surface until it is wrinkle-free.
  • Sometimes it can be difficult to take care of this step - ask someone for help.

Step 2. Roll out the top sheet, which should be combined with the bottom sheet

Put it backwards and let the longer parts fall evenly around the bed.

Both the top and bottom ends should be longer than the mattress

Step 3. Tuck the bottom end and sides of the top sheet under the mattress, leaving free any that you will fold backwards after putting the blanket on

Pull the sheet to create a smooth surface

Step 4. Spread the blanket over the top sheet

Line up the side ends. The top of the blanket should be about 20-25cm above the top of the bed and should dangle evenly on both sides of the bed.

Step 5. Tuck the ends of the blanket under the mattress, just like you did with the top sheet

Make sure you don't get the hems wrinkled.

Step 6. Slip the sides of the blanket under the mattress to create a smooth surface

Step 7. Fold the top of the sheet over the top of the blanket

The crease should be about 30 cm. Since you rolled the sheet upside down, the printed or colored part will now be visible. Smooth the surface and tuck these parts of the sheet under the mattress.

You can also leave them soft, especially if you use the bed frequently. However, if you don't sleep in it often because it's the one in the guest room, tuck the entire top sheet under the mattress

Step 8. Put on the bedspread

Make sure both sides drape evenly to the sides of the bed. You won't have to slip it under the mattress.

Step 9. Place two pillows of the same size on the bed and cover them with pillow cases

Fluff them and place them in the upper area of the bed. If the bed is king-size, you can also put three in it for the purpose of filling the space. Protect them with pillow covers.

Method 3 of 3: Part 3: Decorate the Bed

Step 1. If you haven't already, add a warm duvet

Spread it out eliminating the creases and, if you want, do not put it under the mattress: leave it soft around the bed.

Step 2. Add more pillows

Two is enough for sleeping, but you can always choose five or six decorative pillows, in keeping with the style of the bed and comfortable.

Arrange them near the two main pillows to create a row

Step 3. Add soft toys to add personality to the little ones' rooms

Advice

  • Use sheets that are long enough to fit under the mattress so it will be more comfortable to sleep and make your bed in the morning.
  • Sheets and blankets are tucked under the mattress and smoothed. The folds are uncomfortable and unsightly.
  • The mattress cover will help protect your bed, make it last longer and keep allergens and asthma-inducing particles away.
  • Make sure the sheets are the right size: if they are longer, it doesn't matter, the problem arises when they are shorter.
  • If you're using near-square or king-size bed sheets and can't figure out how they fit, measure each side - the longer ones fit vertically and the shorter ones horizontally. Make a small, discreet mark on the sides to orient yourself; try to do this on the parts that will be folded under the mattress, so they won't show. Alternatively, if the sheets have two hemmed edges and two hemmed edges, have the hemmed edges go vertically and the non-hemmed edges horizontally.
  • Arrange the top sheet with the printed or colored side upside down so that when you fold it, the correct section will be visible. It is also more pleasant to get into a bed where the printed or colored part is facing the person lying down.
  • Clean the room to accentuate the effort made to fix the bed. Make your bed every morning, even if the room is spotless. An unmade bed ruins everything.
  • If you have a small blanket, lay it on the pillows so it will protect them.
  • Think carefully before removing the top sheet and sleeping in contact with the duvet. It may seem easier to make the bed, but this sheet has multiple purposes: it protects the skin from rough blankets and gives even more warmth. In addition, it is much easier to wash sheets regularly than blankets and duvets, which last less if cleaned often.
