These papier mache eggs can be useful for many do-it-yourself jobs, for example for Easter baskets and shop windows.
Steps
Step 1. Gather the materials you need
There is a list at the end of the article.
Step 2. Prepare the glue and bits of newspaper
There is a WikiHow article that tells you how to make papier mache, if you need it.
Step 3. Inflate a balloon, roughly until it is the size of an egg
Tie a knot.
Step 4. Glue the balloon
Attach three layers of newspaper to it. Also cover the knot, so the shape will be pointed and not completely circular, more like that of an egg.
Step 5. Let the egg balloon dry
Step 6. Color the egg
Use gouache paints for the first layer. Then let it dry.
Step 7. Make drawings on the egg
- For Easter: Use designs suitable for Easter eggs, such as lines, dots, scribbles, circles, squares, etc.
- To simulate real eggs: draw the type of bird that should hatch from the egg in question. Consult a bird guide or the internet for ideas on realistic colors and designs.
Step 8. Refine the eggs
Once the color is dry, wipe the egg with clear varnish or spray or coat it with a clear acrylic finish. Then let it dry again!
