Calculating the slope of the linear regression line is an extremely simple process. You can do this using the native Excel function, or by doing the manual calculation. This tutorial demonstrates both methods.
Steps

Step 1. Inside cell 'B1' and 'C1', type 'X' and 'Y' respectively

Step 2. Enter your coordinates in the Excel sheet:
in cells 'B2' and 'C2' enter the first pair of coordinates (x and y).

Step 3. In cells 'B3' and 'C3' enter the second pair of coordinates

Step 4. Calculate the slope of the line:
inside cell 'C4' type the following formula '= Slope (C2: C3, B2: B3)' (without quotes).

Step 5. Finished
The number that appears corresponds to the slope of your line.
Method 1 of 1: Calculate the Slope Manually

Step 1. Repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 from the previous method

Step 2. Inside cell 'B5', calculate the difference of the 'X' coordinates using the following formula:
= B2-B3

Step 3. Inside cell 'C5', calculate the difference of the 'Y' coordinates using the following formula:
= C2-C3

Step 4. Inside cell 'C7', calculate the slope using the following formula:
= C5 / B5
Advice
- Do both methods to make sure the end result is perfectly identical.
- The search function is very useful, it will be sufficient to perform a search using the keyword 'slope'.
- You can simply drag the mouse cursor over the cells to be used in the formula to select them, instead of using the expression 'C2: C3'.
