The lock is the easiest item to use to start fire in Minecraft, along with the fire charge. The recipe is very simple, but you will need to know how to get flint and how to melt iron. Make sure you comply with fire safety measures before using the flintlock, otherwise the flames could consume your entire base!
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Get the Flint and Iron Ingots
Step 1. Look for the gravel
It is a light gray block that falls off when it has nothing underneath. You can find it in large quantities underwater, on beaches, on village trails and occasionally in caves. If you are not close to these environments, just dig underground until you see it. However, be careful when digging directly down.
Step 2. Break the gravel until you get the flint
Approximately 1 in 10 gravel blocks will drop a flint unit when destroyed. Using a shovel will destroy the gravel much faster and, thanks to the Luck spell, the chances of getting the flint will increase.
To build a shovel you need a material of your choice from wooden planks, crushed stone, iron ingots, gold or diamond ingots and two sticks, as well as a workbench. In the computer edition, arrange these objects in a column, with the chosen material on top
Step 3. Pull out the iron
This mineral is quite common underground and in caves, so you won't have to dig deep to find it. It has a stone-like appearance, with beige spots. To get it, you need to use a stone or higher quality pickaxe.
Step 4. Melt the iron in a furnace
You cannot use iron ore until you separate the ore from the stone. Here's how to do it:
- Build a furnace with eight units of crushed stone, using a workbench - in the computer edition, fill in all boxes except the one in the center;
- Use the furnace to open the fusion interface;
- Put the iron ore in the top box;
- Put coal, wood or other flammable items in the lower fuel box (this material will be destroyed);
- Wait for the merger to finish;
- Take the iron ingot from the result box on the right.
Part 2 of 3: Building the Luster
Step 1. Build the lock on a computer
If you're playing the PC version of Minecraft or on console with the advanced crafting mode active, just place an iron ingot and a unit of flint anywhere on the crafting grid. Drag the lock tool from the result box to the inventory.
If you are playing Minecraft 1.7.1 or earlier, you must place the flint exactly one square below and to the right of the iron ingot
Step 2. Create the locksmith on console and in the Pocket Edition
On devices with simple crafting systems, simply select the flint recipe from the crafting screen.
- In the Pocket Edition of Minecraft, the steel is only available from version 0.4.0 and later. You can use it to start a fire only from version 0.7.0 and above.
- All console versions include the lock.
Part 3 of 3: Using the Acciarino
Step 1. Protect yourself from fire
Before you start setting everything on fire, learn how to prevent the flames from burning your base:
- Fire can spread to all empty blocks above a flammable surface. At most he can jump one block down, one block to the side, or four blocks up.
- Solid barriers don't stop fire from spreading.
- Water extinguishes the fire.
Step 2. Start the fire
Put the lock on the Quick Access Toolbar and select it. Now you can use it as you do with the pickaxe and other tools you equip. By using it on a flammable object (such as wood or grass), you will start a fire. On a non-flammable object instead (such as stone), a short-lasting fire will appear. Here are some ways to harness fire:
- Temporary lighting when you run out of flashlights;
- Clear a forest for a major construction project;
- Set enemies on fire. They too are flammable! The creepers will explode, while many other monsters will slowly take damage.
Step 3. Detonate the TNT
You can find dynamite to defend the desert temple or you can make it yourself by filling the crafting grid with alternating sand and gunpowder. By lighting the TNT with the steel, you will have about 4 seconds to escape before the explosion. For more time, set fire to a flammable block near the TNT, allowing the fire to spread and ignite the fuse indirectly.
Advice
- The steel has a good synergy with the Netherrack. By right-clicking on this last block, you will get a perennial fire. However, be careful not to burn yourself! You can also create a fireplace using the steel on the Netherrack and other non-flammable blocks to prevent the fire from spreading.
- In some multiplayer servers, the steel is forbidden, in order to prevent players from maliciously setting fire to the blocks. If the recipe doesn't work, try again in a single player world.
- You can also find the flintlock in randomly generated Nether Fortresses and in ruined Portal chests.
