Bread is a very useful food, which you can prepare early in the game in Minecraft. In fact, wheat is easy to grow, so bread will be one of the staple foods when building your settlement. With just a few harvests, you can have an almost endless supply of bread for your adventures. The process to follow is the same for all versions of Minecraft and Minecraft PE.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Grow Wheat
Step 1. Get some seeds
While it is possible to find wheat in the game, the best way to have a continuous source of bread is to grow your own wheat. To do this, you need seeds and water. In the console versions of Minecraft, you especially need wheat seeds.
- You can find the seeds by breaking the grass or harvesting the wheat that grows in the villages.
- If you don't want to set up a farm and are just interested in how to make bread, skip to the next section.
Step 2. Create a block of plowed land
Use a hoe to turn a block of grass into one of arable land. On that land you can plant seeds and grow wheat.
- Farmland must be within four blocks of water to be considered irrigated. There are many creative ways to build a farm by making the most of the land-water ratio and getting as much harvest as possible.
- Make sure you set up the outdoor grow blocks so that the grain gets enough light.
Step 3. Plant the seeds on the cultivable blocks
Select the seeds from the inventory and right click on the ground to plant them.
Step 4. Wait for the grain to grow
Wheat has to go through eight growth stages before it can be harvested. Each of these stages can last for 5-35 minutes. If you harvest the wheat before the last stage, when it is brown in color, you will only get seeds.
Step 5. Collect the grain
When it has turned brown, you can pick it up. You need three ears of corn to make a loaf.
Method 2 of 2: Prepare the Bread
Step 1. If you haven't grown wheat, get it some other way
You can find it in chests, or collect it in villages. Plus, you can turn a single block of hay into nine ears of corn.
Step 2. Use your workbench
You will need this tool to make bread. You can build it with four wooden planks.
Step 3. Put three ears of corn in a horizontal row in the creation window
You can arrange them in any row, as long as they are all on the same.
Step 4. Move the bread to your inventory
You now have a single loaf. If you select it and eat it, you can regain 5 hunger units (about 3 legs on your screen).
Advice
- Bread is one of the simplest foods to get in Minecraft. After some time, you will be able to build a farm so large that you can have an almost infinite supply of bread.
- Carrots and potatoes offer better yields than wheat, but are harder to find.
