This article explains how to get the "Cut" move while playing Pokémon FireRed or LeafGreen. This move allows you to cut the trees that you will find along the way.
Steps
Part 1 of 4: Getting out of Heavenly City
Step 1. Take all necessary actions to achieve your goal
The "Cut" move will be given to you by the captain of the "Motor ship Anna" who is in the port of "Aranciopoli", so before you can start your journey you will have to go to Celestopoli.
Step 2. Follow the entire route until you reach the "Ponte Pepita"
It is located in the northern part of "Celestopoli".
Step 3. Defeat the five trainers you meet and their boss
Before you can cross the "Pepita Bridge" you will have to beat five trainers and lastly their boss.
Step 4. Obtain the pass to be able to cross the "Ponte Pepita"
After you defeat the six enemies you will be allowed to cross the bridge.
If you have any kind of healing potion, use it now to heal your Pokémon before continuing
Step 5. Cross the "Ponte Pepita"
This way you can leave "Celestopoli" and continue north.
Part 2 of 4: Gain Access to Motor Ship Anna
Step 1. Continue north until the game map ends
When you have reached the upper limit of the map you can continue reading.
Step 2. Head east
Take the road to the right and keep walking until you are blocked by a trainer.
Step 3. Defeat all the enemies you encounter on the way until you get to a big house
Before you can reach the largest house in the city, you will have to face and beat several trainers.
Step 4. Enter the house
When you get to the biggest house in town, go inside. There should be a pokémon in the center of the room.
Step 5. Talk to the pokémon in the house
This will give you permission to use the computer located in the corner of the room.
Step 6. Use the computer
Stand in front of the device and select it, then wait for the pokémon to resume the appearance of a human being.
You may need to select one of the options displayed on your computer to be able to trigger the event described in the step
Step 7. Get the ticket to be able to board the "Motonave Anna"
When the pokémon resumes the appearance of a man named Bill he will thank you by handing you the ticket to board the "Motor ship Anna" anchored in the port of "Aranciopoli".
Part 3 of 4: Reach Aranciopoli
Step 1. Return to "Heavenly City"
Head west starting from the big house where you got the ticket for the motor ship, then walk south to be able to cross the "Ponte Pepita" again. This will return you to "Heavenly City".
Step 2. Beat Misty the head of the "Heavenly City" gym
Go to the gym to fight Misty and defeat her. After performing this step you will be able to enter the city of "Aranciopoli".
Since Misty has "Water" type pokémon, fight her using "Grass" or "Electric" type pokémon to be able to win more easily
Step 3. Make your way to the house that was previously guarded by a policeman
The building is located east of Misty's gym. Once you arrive you will notice that the policeman is gone.
Step 4. Reach the entrance of the tunnel "Via Sottoterra"
Enter the house, then walk southeast until you reach the tunnel entrance.
Step 5. Go through the "Via Sottoterra" tunnel
You will have to go down to the lower floors of the house to be able to access the tunnel. Going through the tunnel you will reach the city of "Aranciopoli".
Part 4 of 4: Get the Cut Move
Step 1. Reach the "Aranciopoli" pier
You will have to walk towards the south side of the city of "Aranciopoli". When you try to access the dock you will be stopped by a guard.
Step 2. Show him the ticket to board the "Motonave Anna"
Push the button TO. At this point the guard will allow you to board.
Step 3. Defeat all enemies you encounter
Get on the "Motor ship Anna" and follow the path by defeating anyone who stands in front of you. Eventually you will meet the leader of your opponents and after defeating him you can go and talk to the captain of the ship.
Step 4. Find the captain of the "Motor ship Anna"
Climb the stairs behind the last enemy you faced and enter the captain's cabin. You will find it next to a bucket.
Step 5. Rub the captain's back
Approach him and press the button TO.
Step 6. Take the "Cut" move
When you have finished treating his seasickness, the captain will reward you by giving you the "Cut" move. Now you can teach it to your favorite pokémon.
Step 7. Teach the "Cut" move to one of your Pokémon
After one of your pokémon learns the "Cut" move you will be able to remove all trees blocking access to the new map paths simply by selecting the pokémon in question.
Advice
- The abbreviation "MN" means "Hidden Machines".
- The enemies you face will have "Electric" type Pokémon available, so take some "Earth" type Pokémon with you. If you don't have any, you can capture a Diglett or Dugtrio inside the "Diglett Cave" which is near the eastern exit of the city of "Orange City".
- You can use the "Cut" move to be able to face Lt. Surge, the gym leader in "Orange City".
