In Elder Scrolls Online you can choose from many different characters. If you want to play a Templar effectively and take advantage of the best bonuses, read this article for tips on how to create the character and modify it as it levels up, as well as tips on how to play and fight effectively with this class.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Choose the Race
Step 1. Play as an Argonian
Argonians are the best choice for a Templar, if you will play him as a healer of the party. They have better natural abilities in Restoration and their regeneration is improved, to better resist the hits of the enemy team. Argonians are available to those who have chosen the Ebon Heart Pact.
Step 2. Play as Altmer
Altmers have a natural bonus to magicka supply and regeneration, making them great Templars. They also have a bonus to damage, magicka and the school of Destruction, to better protect themselves from enemies. This makes them more suited to a Templar who deals damage, and is less focused on healing. Altmers are available to those who have chosen the Aldmer Domain.
Step 3. Play as Breton
Bretons are a good choice for Templars, as they have a racial bonus to magicka. They also have many racial bonuses that protect them, which is useful for surviving long enough to heal your party. Bretons are available to those who have chosen the Council of Daggerfall.
Step 4. Play as Dunmer
The Dunmer have a slightly larger reservoir of magicka to draw from, making them good Templars. They also have a good mix of defensive and offensive bonuses, which allows them to maintain a more balanced role in battle. They are more suited to fighting Templars. Dunmers are available to those who have chosen the Ebonheart Pact.
Method 2 of 3: Choose Skills
Step 1. Test the shaft of the Lancia Aedrica
These abilities are designed to deal damage. Most of these are area attacks, which allow you to control groups of monsters (the so-called crowd control).
Step 2. Try the Wrath of Dawn tree
These abilities are more defensive, blocking or reflecting enemy abilities and attacks. They are useful no matter what style of play you adopt.
Step 3. Try the Tree of Light Restaurant
These skills are focused on healing and restoring characteristics. Be careful though: you will not be able to move during the launch of some of them.
Method 3 of 3: Using the Best Game Strategies
Step 1. Play a fighting Templar
There are two styles of play for the Templars. The former is more devoted to combat, so you'll have to deal damage and focus less on healing.
- If you prefer this style of play, you'll need to focus your skills on the Aedric Spear tree (and to a lesser extent, Wrath of Dawn).
- The best weapons for this style of play are two-handed ones or a sword and shield.
- You should distribute the points mostly in magicka and stamina, but you can't completely neglect health, because your character will often be in the center of the action.
Step 2. Play as a Healing Templar
The most common and best role for a Templar is that of the group healer. Templars have many skills that allow them to play the vital role of keeping their companions alive.
- If you want to try this style of play, you will need to focus your skills in the tree of the Restorative Light, however you shouldn't completely neglect the skills that allow you to defend yourself.
- For this class, the key weapon is a healing staff, but you can also improve your skills with another weapon to be able to protect yourself.
- You should allot almost all of your points to magicka. Since there are some spells that can heal you, having high health is not a priority and the same goes for stamina, as you will very rarely attack.
Step 3. Wear light armor
Light armor abilities include absorption and magicka pool bonuses, making them the best for a Templar. You can use heavy or light armor if you play a fighting Templar.
Step 4. Help your allies
As a Templar, the most useful thing you can do is help your companions by keeping them alive. This means that you will have to heal them, but also play defensively. This role requires you to be selfless and focus on group success, not personal glory.
