Bethesda recently released the new chapter of the hugely popular Elder Scrolls saga. As opposed to the action / adventure style of its predecessors, Elder Scrolls Online is the first massively multiplayer online RPG (RPG) and allows players to collaborate with each other. The digital version of the game is available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, in both Windows and Mac environments.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Purchase Elder Scrolls Online in the Online Shop
Step 1. Go to the official Elder Scrolls Online Website
Here is the address:
- To purchase a copy of the game, you must have an account on Bethesda.net.
- Don't worry if you don't already have an account. When you try to purchase the game you will be prompted to create one.
Step 2. Enter the site
Click on the blue "Buy now" button at the top right of the screen.
Step 3. Select the product to purchase
This will open a page where you can select the edition of the game you prefer. Once you have chosen the PC version, click on ESO Store. You should see a picture of the game's packaging, along with a list of its features. Under the brown "Buy now" button, you will see two boxes.
- There are many different versions of the game. Some contain the Morrowind game expansion and exclusive digital content, but are more expensive than the standard edition.
- Once you have decided which version to buy, scroll down the page until you reach the ESO Store button, then click on it.
Step 4. Create an account on Bethesda.net
If you already have a profile on the site, you can skip this step. You should see the purchase screen, with the game of your choice in the foreground.

- Enter all the necessary information. Make sure you accept all agreements in the Terms and Services.
- To activate your account, check the inbox of the email you used for registration and click on the "Activate your account" link. If you haven't received any communication from Bethesda yet, please check your Spam folder or try resending the message.
- You have the option to choose an ESO Plus subscription for your account. You will see three options, each with a different price and duration. Once you have made your choice, click on "Continue".
Step 5. Add a payment method
You should see the window where you can enter your billing address information. Fill in the required fields, click "Continue", then select a payment method.
You should see all the credit cards you have entered displayed. Choose one
Step 6. Confirm your purchase
Continue to the last step, confirming the information you entered.
You should now be a happy owner of a digital copy of the game, compatible with Mac and Windows. Congratulations
Step 7. Install the game
To do this correctly, you need to re-open your Bethesda.net profile. Go to https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/ and log into your account.

Method 2 of 2: Purchase Elder Scrolls Online via Steam
Step 1. Create an account on Bethesda.net
To play Elder Scrolls Online, you need to have a profile on Bethesda.net and connect it to Steam.
- If you already have a Bethesda account, skip to step 2.
- Visit the official Elder Scrolls Online site by typing https://www. Bethesda.net in your browser's search bar. You should be redirected to a page where you can enter your date of birth. This way the site can make sure that you are of the minimum age to play Elder Scrolls Online.
- Once the date of birth has been entered, a login screen will open. Look for the "Create an account" button in the upper right corner. Click on the button and a screen will open with a form to fill out.
- Enter all the necessary information and make sure you have access to the email you use, because you will receive a confirmation code by message.
- Check your inbox for Bethesda.net email. If you don't see the communication, look in the Spam folder, then try sending it again. Once the confirmation code has been entered, the account should be activated successfully.
Step 2. Open Steam
Now that you have activated your account, you can close your browser and open Steam.
If you don't already have Steam installed, you can download it at this address: https://store.steampowered.com/. Just click on the green "Download Steam" button in the top right corner of the page
Step 3. Find Elder Scrolls Online in the store
Click on the Shop tab, then type "Elder Scrolls Online" in the search bar.

Step 5. Add a payment method
Click on the green "Cart" button in the upper right corner. On the following screen, select "Purchase for myself", then choose a payment method.
If you use PayPal, you need to log into your account. To use a credit card instead, you need to enter its information
Step 6. Complete the purchase
Press "Continue", make sure you tick all the necessary boxes and agree to the Terms and Conditions. Once done, select the button to complete the purchase.
Congratulations, you are a happy Elder Scrolls Online owner
Step 7. Install the game
In the upper left corner of the Steam home page, select Library, click on "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited", then select "Install".

Step 8. Upgrade to Morrowind Edition
This step is entirely optional. The game expansion is also available on Steam, which you can purchase at any time. Once you have successfully purchased and installed the standard version of Elder Scrolls Online, you can upgrade for another forty dollars.
- Go back to the Steam Store and type "Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind" in the search bar. The result you are looking for should be the first. Click on it and follow the same suggested instructions to purchase the game itself.
- Once your purchase is successful, go back to the Library, select Update, then Install.
