You have to make a lot of choices when creating a character in Elder Scroll Online. If you want to play a Nightblade effectively and take advantage of the best bonuses, read the article below for tips on what character to create and how to customize them as they level up, and tips on how to play and fight effectively with this class.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Choose Your Race
Step 1. Play as Khajit
Khajits are the natural choice for Nightblades, as they have a racial bonus to their cloaking range. Their other racial bonuses make them suitable for Nightblades who excel in combat (they have bonuses to medium armor and melee attacks). Take advantage of two-weapon combat rather than bow combat to get the most out of your bonuses. Khajits are available to anyone playing in the Aldmeri Domain.
Step 2. Play as Bosmer
Bosmers are another natural choice for a Nightblade. They also have a concealment bonus and a bow use bonus. Consequently, favor the use of the bow when using this breed. Bosmers are available to anyone playing in the Aldmeri Domain.
Step 3. Play as an Argonian
Argonians have natural regenerative abilities, which can be very useful since Nightblades have to spend a lot of points in Magicka and Stamina and not Health. Their racial weapon bonus is for a Staff of Catering (not the most useful weapon for a Nightblade) so you can choose the weapon of your choice (bow or double swords). Argonians are not the best race for a Nightblade, but they are the most suitable for those playing in the Ebonheart Pact.
Step 4. Play as Breton
The Bretons have excellent defense and an abundant supply of magicka to exploit (which is used to execute class abilities). Since their emphasis is on magicka, you will need to choose skills that help your character attack effectively, as his weapon prowess will be inferior to that of other races. Bretons are not the best breed for a Nightblade, but they are best suited for those playing with the Council of Daggerfall.
Method 2 of 4: Choose Your Skills
Step 1. Try the Assassination tree
This tree offers abilities that allow you to deal damage - a lot of damage. These skills will make you a great offensive character, and your party will benefit from the damage you can deal.
Step 2. Test the Shadow tree
This tree offers abilities that allow you to hide, so you can attack from a distance and stay out of harm's way. Many of the abilities allow you to become invisible, but this isn't as useful a perk as it seems. When you are invisible, you will not be able to regenerate magicka. However, the higher level skills in this tree allow you to deal more damage.
Step 3. Test the Siphon shaft
This tree offers abilities that allow you to absorb the health, speed, and power of your enemies. All Nightblades should have at least some abilities from this tree, to protect their low health.
Method 3 of 4: Using the Best Game Strategies
Step 1. Fight
There are two play styles for Nightblades. The first is a more combat-based style, in which you will be at the center of the action and deal damage to your enemies.
-
If you want to follow this style of play, you will need to focus on the skills of the Assassination tree (and to a lesser extent than the Siphon tree).
-
For this style it is a good idea to choose double swords, which deal more damage than the bow and are more suited to hand-to-hand combat.
-
If you have chosen this style it may be a good idea to give some points to health, although most of them will still have to go to magicka and stamina.
Step 2. Avoid direct combat
The other style of play is more about stealth, and having your Nightblade avoid the center of attention and favor ranged attacks and hiding.
-
If you want to follow this style you will have to focus on the Shadow tree (and to a lesser extent the Siphon one).
-
It is a good idea to choose to use the bow, as it will be more convenient to attack from a distance and not get too close to enemies.
-
If you choose this style you will have to assign more points to stamina than to magicka, because magicka will not regenerate when you use your class abilities.
Step 3. Use your stealth skills
Even if you're playing a Nightblade that specializes in melee, you should still take advantage of concealment whenever possible. You can't take many hits, so avoid open fights if possible, especially if you are alone. Don't neglect your somersault, a useful way to get past traps and get out of enemy line of fire.
Step 4. Use medium armor
The medium armor skill tree offers many useful bonuses for Nightblades, including an improved ability to critically strike and dodge. Always try to wear medium armor, in order to improve the skill in its use as quickly as possible and take advantage of the bonuses that come with it.
Step 5. Level up your magicka
In general, a high level of magicka or a stash of potions are a great idea for Nightblades. These characters are highly dependent on their class abilities, which use magicka. Stamina is also important, because your Nightblade will use weapons, but to what extent depends on your style of play.
Method 4 of 4: Choose Your Professions
Step 1. Choose Tailoring
Tailoring allows you to create medium armor and upgrade your armor much faster. Since you should be using medium armor as a Nightblade, this is a great profession to pursue.
Step 2. Woodworking
If you are using a bow or stick, woodworking is for you. This is because you will be able to upgrade these weapons faster. Don't worry about traveling to nature to build items, as you will find many of them in missions and cities.
Step 3. Choose Watchful Eye
Whichever profession you choose, invest a point in Watchful Eye to get visual aid that will allow you to find useful items more easily.
Step 4. Explore to find special crafting stations
As you should already know, exploring can be very useful and one of the things you can find are special crafting stations that offer bonuses on specific items.
