This article explains how to hide recently listened to artists on Spotify using an Android device. While you normally don't care about your followers and friends seeing the music you listen to, sometimes you may want to keep this information private. There are two very simple ways to protect your privacy.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Hide Recently Listened Artists
Step 1. Open the Spotify application on your Android device
To get started, open the Spotify application, which can be found on the Home screen or in the apps menu.
Step 2. Select the Your Library tab from the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen
The "Your Library" tab is located on the right side of the navigation bar and its icon depicts albums on a shelf. Press on it.
Step 3. Scroll to the section titled Recently Listened Artists
The "Your Library" section has various options at the top, but scroll down to find the area titled "Recently Listened Artists". This section shows the artists, albums and playlists you have just listened to recently.
Step 4. Press the button with three vertical dots ⁝ next to all the items you want to hide
Look for the items you want to keep private and click on this button, which is located to the right of them.
Step 5. Select the Hide option
A menu with various options will appear. Scroll down until you find the "Hide" option and select it. Subsequently, the music in question will be hidden from the "Recently Listened Artists" section.
Method 2 of 2: Hide Listening Activities from Facebook
Step 1. Open the Spotify application on your Android device
If you haven't opened it yet, do so now. The application can be found on the Home screen or in the app menu.
Step 2. Select the Your Library tab in the lower right corner
You will see the "Your Library" tab icon on the right side of the bottom navigation bar. It depicts two vertical lines, with a third line resting on them. Press the icon to visit your music library.
Step 3. Click on the "Settings" icon
in the upper right corner.
In the top right corner of the application, you will see the settings icon, which looks like a gear. Press on it.
Step 4. Scroll to the Social section
The settings page is divided into several sections, so scroll down until you find the one titled "Social".
Step 5. Activate the cursor
next to the option Private session.
Look for the "Private session" option in the "Social" section and press the slider to activate it. This will hide all your listening activities from Facebook, but consider that each session is considered ended when your account is inactive for six hours.
Step 6. Disable the Listen Activity option (optional)
There is also an option to disable "Listening Activities". It is located under the "Private Session" option. Press on the slider to deactivate it if it is active. This will keep your listening habits private, preventing them from being seen by your followers and other Spotify users.
