This article explains how to archive a conversation on WhatsApp to hide it from the chat list. The conversation will then be moved to the archived chats folder, without deleting it.
Steps
Step 1. Open WhatsApp on your Android device
The icon looks like a green speech bubble containing a white telephone handset.

Step 2. Tap the Chat tab
Should another page open, tap the "Chat" tab in the navigation bar at the top of the screen.
If you have a full-screen conversation open, tap the arrow in the top left to go back and show the navigation bar
Step 3. Tap and hold a conversation to select it
A check mark will appear on the contact's profile picture.
Step 4. Tap the icon to archive it
This button looks like a square containing an arrow pointing down. It is located at the top right, next to the three vertical dots. Archiving a conversation allows you to hide it from the list by moving it to the archived chats folder.
If you regret it immediately, you can fix it by tapping the "Cancel" button. This button will appear at the bottom right right after you have archived the conversation and will disappear within a few seconds
Step 5. Scroll down and tap Archived Chats
This option is at the bottom of the chat list and allows you to view all archived conversations in one place.
