This article explains how to sync your Spotify account across two or more platforms (which you can do by logging into the same account on all platforms) and how to play music on a phone or tablet from your computer.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Sync Spotify to Various Devices
Step 1. Download and set up Spotify on your phone, tablet and / or computer
Skip this step if you have already installed the application on at least two platforms.
Step 2. Open Spotify on your computer
The application icon features the green and black Spotify logo. The login page will be opened.
Step 3. Log in to Spotify
Enter your e-mail address and password. Alternatively, log in with Facebook if you have created an account using this social network.
Step 4. Follow all the instructions that appear on the screen
If this is your first time accessing Spotify, you will probably be asked to select the music genres you prefer.
Also take advantage of this to customize your profile settings according to your preferences
Step 5. Open Spotify on your phone or tablet and log into your account
On your device, make sure you are logged in to Spotify with the same account used on your computer. Settings, playlists and other features will then be synchronized, allowing you to start your activities on your computer and continue them on your phone or tablet (or vice versa).
Method 2 of 2: Play Music on a Computer from a Mobile Device
Step 1. Open Spotify on your computer
The application icon has horizontal black bars in a green circle. The Spotify home page will open, provided you are logged into your account.
If you are not logged in from your computer, click on Log in, then enter your username (or email address) and password before continuing.
Step 2. Launch Spotify on your phone or tablet
Tap on the application icon. If you are already logged in, the Spotify home page will open.
- If you are not logged in, enter your username (or email address) and password before continuing.
- If you're using a tablet, make sure it's connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
Step 3. Use your phone or tablet to select a song to play
Press on a song, playlist or album you want to listen to.
Step 4. Select Listen now if prompted
In most cases, if your computer and phone / tablet are connected to the same network, you will receive a notification prompting you to press the button Listen now. Doing so will start playback on your computer and the procedure will be completed.
- If you are not prompted to press the "Listen Now" button, you can select Available devices, then choose the device you want to sync music with.
- If none of these options are available, proceed to the next step.
Step 5. Select Your Library
This option is located in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 6. Click on ⚙️
This icon is located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 7. Select Devices
This option is located at the top of the page.
If you have an Android device, scroll down until you find the section titled "Devices"
Step 8. Select Device Menu
This rounded button is located in the center of the page. Pressing on it will open the list of computers, tablets and smartphones available on which access has been made.
If you have an Android phone or tablet instead, select Connect to a device in the section entitled "Devices".
Step 9. Select your computer name
You should find it on the menu. In this way, Spotify audio will be instantly transferred from your phone to your computer. This will also allow you to use the device as if it were a remote control, preventing the music from playing randomly, as is usually the case on non-premium accounts.
If you want to play computer music on your phone, first start playing a song on the computer version of Spotify. Open Spotify on your phone or tablet, then click on the "Device" icon next to the volume symbol and select your smartphone or tablet. However, bear in mind that you can only do this if you have a premium account
Advice
- If you want to play Spotify music using Bluetooth speakers, you will need to find the songs you want to listen to and then pair your phone, tablet or computer with the speakers.
- Using the Spotify application on a computer, you will see an option called Local files on the sidebar of the home page. In this section, Spotify compiles a list of all the music files on your computer.
