If you have forgotten or lost the password to access your iPad Mini, it will automatically lock itself to protect all the data it contains from prying eyes. In this case, the only thing to do in order to regain access to the device is to restore it through iTunes.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Reset an iPad Mini
Step 1. Connect the iPad Mini to the computer using the supplied USB cable
iTunes will be launched automatically as soon as the iOS device is detected.
Step 2. Click the iPad Mini-shaped icon shown inside the left menu sidebar or at the top of the iTunes window
Step 3. Access the "Help" menu (characterized by the "?
"), then select" Check for Updates. "iTunes will automatically check for a new software update for the iPad Mini.
If you are using the Mac version of iTunes, the "Check for Updates" option is located within the "iTunes" menu
Step 4. Select the "Summary" or "Summary" tab, then hit the "Restore iPad" button
Step 5. Wait for the device recovery process to complete
At that point you will see the login screen appear to perform the initial configuration of the device.
Step 6. Disconnect the iPad Mini from the computer
The device is now as good as new and ready for normal use.
Method 2 of 2: Troubleshooting
Step 1. If a message appears on the device screen indicating that it has been disabled, restore it as described in the previous method
This happens when you enter an incorrect passcode six consecutive times.
Step 2. Factory reset the device, if the normal iTunes restore did not remove the passcode
However, remember that this procedure formats the iPad's internal memory to make it free to access.
- Disconnect all cables connected to the iPad Mini;
- Press and hold the "Standby / Wake up" button, then slide the cursor to the right to proceed with the complete shutdown;
- Press and hold the Home button while the iPad Mini is connected to the computer via the supplied USB cable;
- At this point, continuing to hold down the Home button, wait for the device to turn on automatically. If the latter does not turn on, press the appropriate "On / off" button, but without releasing the Home button.
- Continue by holding the Home button until the iTunes shortcut logo appears on the iPad Mini screen.
- iTunes should start automatically as soon as the device is detected.
- Press the "OK" button when iTunes informs you that an iOS device has been detected in "Recovery" mode. Now press the "Reset" button.
