This article explains how to connect a Bluetooth speaker to an Android smartphone or tablet. You can access the Bluetooth connectivity settings using the quick settings drop-down panel or using the Settings app.
Steps
Step 1. Turn on the Bluetooth speaker and enter pairing mode
Make sure that the device is properly connected to the mains or that the batteries are charged. Enter it and activate the pairing mode.
- The procedure to follow to activate the pairing mode may vary according to the model of the Bluetooth device, but normally you need to press and hold a specific button.
- If you are having difficulty getting your Bluetooth speaker into pairing mode, consult its instruction manual or the manufacturer's website.
Step 2. Swipe two fingers on the Android device screen down from the top
The quick setting access menu will be displayed. Performing this step using only one finger will only display the list of the five quick settings you have chosen. In this case you will have to repeat the movement a second time to have access to the complete list of quick settings.
Step 3. Press and hold your finger on the Bluetooth icon
It is characterized by the stylized letter "B" preceded by the ">" symbol. The Bluetooth connection setup menu will be displayed.
- If the Bluetooth connection icon is not listed in the quick settings panel of your device, swipe the screen to the left to go to the next page in the list.
- Alternatively, you can access the Bluetooth settings using your device's Settings app and selecting the item Connections or Wireless and Network, depending on the model of smartphone or tablet. Now select the option Bluetooth. If "Connections" or "Wireless and Networks" is not visible in the "Settings" menu, select the option Other settings.
Step 4. Select the item + Add new device
It is displayed at the top of the Bluetooth menu. An automatic scan will be performed for new Bluetooth devices.
- If you are using a Samsung Galaxy device, skip this step.
- If your Bluetooth speaker is not listed in the list of detected devices, press the button Update (or Research if you are using a Samsung Galaxy) to scan again. If you have any problems make sure your Bluetooth device is still in pairing mode.
Step 5. Tap the name of the Bluetooth speaker that appeared on the screen of the Android device
When the latter has detected the Bluetooth speaker it will be displayed in the "Available devices" section. Select it as soon as it appears in the list.
