The jager bomb is a very popular party start shot. The classic preparation involves using 45ml of Jägermeister and half a 240ml can of Red Bull. Drop the shot of amaro into a highball glass you poured the soda into and then drink the drink as the ingredients blend. Serve a "round" of jager bomb to your friends and get the party started!
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Prepare the Drink
Step 1. Cool the Jägermeister
Place the bottle in the freezer or refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving the drink. The alcohol will not freeze, but it should reach a pleasantly low temperature.
Step 2. Pour the Jägermeister into a shot glass
To make the classic jager bomb you need a 45ml glass. You can of course make a larger drink, but you will need larger quantities of Red Bull.
Step 3. Pour half a can of energy drink into a highball glass
This is the traditional recipe; Remember that a 240ml can of Red Bull contains 80mg of caffeine.
Replace the Red bull with another sugary or caffeinated soda. You can also try another brand of energy drink, grape juice, or a fruit drink
Part 2 of 2: Drinking the Jager Bomb
Step 1. Drop the bitter-filled shot glass into the Red Bull glass
To respect the "ritual" make sure that everyone is ready to drink the jager bomb and that they do this simultaneously. Make a toast or a countdown to "synchronize" all your friends. Drop the shot just before drinking the drink.
Hold the shot glass at the edge of the larger glass. If you drop it from an excessive height, you increase the risk of breaking the glass and splashing the drink all over the place
Step 2. Drink the jager bomb
As soon as you have dropped the shot into the glass of Red Bull, bring it to your lips and drink its contents in one go. To complete the ritual, you must completely empty the glass and place it back on the counter or table to show that you are done.
Step 3. Slow down the pace
When you've drunk the jager bomb, sit back and wait for the effects of the alcohol to be felt. The mix of caffeine and alcohol produces a unique stimulating effect, which many people enjoy. That said, remember that it is dangerous to take excessive amounts of both of these substances; especially in combination with each other. The rush of energy provided by caffeine hides the sedative effects of alcohol by making you believe you can drink more than you can safely handle.
- If you're a teenager, don't consume more than 100mg of caffeine a day and don't drink more than one or two jager bombs a night.
- Recognize the signs of a caffeine overdose. Mild signs are agitation, nervousness, restlessness, rapid heart rate, nausea, and anxiety. You may also experience palpitations, insomnia, and sweating. In severe cases there is dizziness, vomiting and can lead to cardiac arrest.
Advice
- If you feel like experimenting, try an energy drink other than Red Bull. Some think the latter is too sweet.
- Quickly rinse your glasses after drinking the shot. Both the Jägermeister and the Red Bull are quite sticky and you will have a hard time washing the glasses afterwards if you let the sugary residues dry on the surface.
Warnings
- Don't drive after drinking.
- Don't drop the glass from too high a height, or the drink will splash onto the counter.
- If you are pregnant or underage, do not drink.
