This article shows you how to permanently delete your Snapchat account using a mobile device or computer. Read on to find out how.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Mobile Device
Step 1. Launch the Snapchat application
It features a yellow ghost icon, which is the social network's official logo.
Step 2. Slide your finger down on the screen
Perform this step from the main screen of the app (the one related to the view taken by the camera of the device). This way, you will be redirected to the Snapchat main menu.
Step 3. Tap the gear icon
It is located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 4. Scroll through the list that appeared to locate and select the Assistance item
This is the first option located in the fourth section of the menu.
Step 5. Select the item My account and settings
It is the third option available within the displayed screen.
Step 6. Tap Account Information
This menu provides the list of all the changes that can be made to your Snapchat account.
Step 7. Select the Delete my account option
You will be redirected to a new page which contains the instructions to follow to cancel your account.
Step 8. Tap the link to delete your account
It should appear in blue and be related to the word "page" in the appeared text.
Step 9. Provide your Snapchat login password
In order to continue, you must provide the password to access the account proving that you are the rightful owner.
Step 10. Press the Continue button
A confirmation page will appear on the screen to indicate that your Snapchat account has been deactivated. From this moment on, you have 30 days to retrace your steps and change your mind. Otherwise, at the expiry of the term indicated, the profile will be permanently deleted.
Within 30 days, you will have the option to reactivate your account by simply logging in
Method 2 of 2: Use a Computer
Step 1. Log in to the Snapchat website
Step 2. Scroll the page and select the Assistance item
It is located in the "Community" section at the bottom of the website.
Step 3. Select the My Account and Settings option
It is the third menu item that appeared on the left side of the page.
Step 4. Click the Account Information link
It should be the first option in the new menu that appeared. After selection, you will be redirected to a new submenu.
Step 5. Choose the Delete my account item
The information necessary to continue with the account cancellation procedure will be loaded in the box on the right of the page.
Step 6. Click the link to delete your account
It should appear blue and be anchored to the word "Page" that appears in the text. If you don't find it, you can directly select this link. You will automatically be taken to the unsubscribe page of your Snapchat account.
Step 7. Provide Snapchat profile login credentials (username and password)
If you have forgotten your password, click the "Forgot your password?" Link, then follow the instructions that appear on the screen. You will receive an email containing the link to reset your password
Step 8. Select the "I'm not a robot" checkbox
It is located below the fields for entering the username and password. After clicking the check button indicated, follow the instructions that will appear.
Step 9. Press the Login button
In this way you will be redirected to the page where you can delete the account.
Step 10. Re-enter the password to access the profile
This step is to confirm your willingness to actually delete the account.
Step 11. Press the Continue button
You will receive confirmation that your Snapchat account has been deactivated. From this moment on, you have 30 days to retrace your steps and change your mind. Otherwise, at the expiry of the term indicated, the profile will be permanently deleted.
