This article explains how to prevent Instagram from accessing your location when you post a new photo or video.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using an iPhone
Step 1. Open the iPhone settings
The icon looks like a gray gear and is located on the main screen.
Step 2. Scroll down and tap on Instagram
It is located almost at the bottom of the screen.
If you can't find it in the settings, then Instagram isn't using Location Services
Step 3. Tap Location
This option is located at the top of the page dedicated to Instagram.
Step 4. Tap Never to make sure Instagram can't access your location under any circumstances, especially when using the app
Method 2 of 2: Using Android
Step 1. Open the Android settings
The icon looks like a gray gear and can be found in the app drawer or on one of the main screens.
Step 2. Scroll down and tap Location
It can be found in the section entitled "Personal".
Step 3. Swipe left on the Location button
It will turn gray. In this way, the geolocation services will be disabled on all applications of the device, preventing Instagram from using this feature.
Advice
As for geolocation, by default Instagram can access a user's location only when the user uses the application
Warnings
- If you turn off location services on Instagram, you won't be able to add geotags to your photos.
- By disabling the geolocation settings on an Android device, it is not possible to use some Google features that require information associated with the user's location.
