Blackhead patches are a specific skin care product whose function is to remove blackheads that appear on the nose, forehead and chin. They contain an adhesive substance that grips blackheads and extracts them. While they are very useful, you can take additional steps to enhance their effectiveness. If you follow the instructions to the letter and prepare the leather correctly, you will be able to make the most of their properties.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Prepare the Pores
Step 1. Wash your face
Before applying the patch, wash your face using your usual cleanser. This will remove the buildup of dirt and oil from the skin surface.
It is recommended that you experiment with different brands of cleansers until you find the perfect product for your skin
Step 2. Fill the sink with hot water
Close the sink drain and turn on the hot water tap. Make sure the temperature is high enough to generate steam. If the water that comes out of the tap is not hot enough, you can boil it in a saucepan.
Step 3. Steam your face for 10-20 minutes
Hot water and steam help dissolve the sebum that has accumulated in the pores, allowing the patches to remove it more effectively. Bring your face close to the sink to expose it to the action of the steam.
Part 2 of 3: Apply the Patches
Step 1. Moisten your face
If you have prepared your skin correctly for applying the patches, the steam generated by the water should have already moistened it. If not enough, the patches will not adhere. To make sure you don't have any problems, moisten your nose, chin or forehead (depending on which patch you use) with warm water.
Step 2. Apply the patch to the skin
Before using it, read the instructions on the package to know how to make it adhere. Remove the protective sheet and apply it carefully on the affected part of the face. Flatten it with your fingers to make it adhere well to the epidermis.
- Remember to wash your hands before applying the patches.
- If the patch does not adhere properly, you can cut it with a pair of scissors to facilitate application.
Step 3. Let the patch dry for 10-15 minutes
If you let it dry, it will adhere better to the skin and extract blackheads more effectively. Set a stopwatch on your mobile or watch to know when to remove it.
Step 4. Tear off the patch from top to bottom
Grab the patch on both sides and start peeling it off slowly from top to bottom. For best results, try to peel off both sides at the same time. Once removed, the dirt and oil extracted from the pores should remain on the patch.
Part 3 of 3: Add the Sodium Bicarbonate
Step 1. In a bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 cup (250 ml) of water
Baking soda helps exfoliate the skin, make it less oily and increase the effectiveness of the patches. Mix it well with water to make sure you get a homogeneous solution.
Step 2. Soak the patch in the solution
Put the patch in the baking soda solution and shake it inside to absorb it. Remove it from the bowl and squeeze it to get rid of excess water. This will transfer the baking soda onto the patch itself.
Step 3. Apply the solution to your nose
Instead of using tap water, you can moisten your nose with the baking soda solution to make it easier for the patch to stick. Apply it with the help of a cotton ball.
Step 4. Press the patch onto your nose
Read the instructions on the package to know how to apply it correctly. Make it stick to your nose and flatten any wrinkles with your fingers.
Step 5. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then remove it
Allow the patch to dry, then slowly peel it off from top to bottom. This way you will be able to extract the blackheads from the skin.
