Pipe rigate are a type of pasta that cannot be missing in the pantry. Being versatile, they can be cooked on the stove or in the microwave until the desired consistency is obtained. If you want to make creamy pasta, let it simmer in milk to absorb its texture and flavor. Once cooked, you can use it to prepare dishes such as cheese pasta, pasta salads or flans.

Steps
Method 1 of 4: Boiling
Step 1. Bring 4-6 liters of salted water to a boil
Pour the water into a large pot and season with salt. Put the lid on the pot and turn the heat up to high. Heat the water until it starts to boil and the steam comes out from under the lid.
To make one serving, bring 2-2.5 liters of water to a boil. Reduce the doses of the pasta, measuring about 45-90 g
Step 2. Cook 500 g of pipe rigate
Stir them with a spoon to prevent them from sticking together during cooking.
The boiling process will be stopped as soon as you throw in the pasta
Step 3. Bring the water to a boil again and cook the pasta for 7-8 minutes
Remove the lid and let the rigate pipes cook over high heat. The water should start boiling vigorously. Stir the pasta from time to time and let it cook until it is al dente. This should take 7 minutes. If you prefer it well done, allow an extra minute.
Step 4. Drain the pasta
Turn off the heat and put a colander in the sink. Carefully pour the striped pipes to drain the water well. Serve hot.
If you want to prepare the pasta in advance, store it in an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for 3-4 days. Use it to make a flan, or season it with your favorite gravy
Method 2 of 4: Slow Cooker in Milk
Step 1. Mix the milk and water
Pour 600ml of milk and 60ml of water into a large saucepan.
- To make a single serving, halve the doses of milk, water and pasta.
- You can use skim milk for this recipe, but whole milk will make the dough creamier.
Step 2. Bring the liquid ingredients to a boil over medium heat
Let them heat uncovered until they start boiling vigorously.
Avoid setting the flame to high, otherwise the milk will stick to the bottom
Step 3. Lower the heat and toss the pasta
Lower the heat and cook 200 g of pipe rigate.
Step 4. Simmer the piped pipes for 20 minutes
Let them simmer without a lid until you get the desired consistency. Stir them every 4-5 minutes to prevent them from sticking together or burning.
If the liquid evaporates, add 60ml of milk each time the level goes down
Step 5. Drain the pasta
If you want to store milk, put a large bowl in the sink and fit a colander over it. If you don't want to store milk, don't put any containers under the colander. Carefully pour over the cooked pipe rigate.
Step 6. Use the pasta once it is cooked
Use piped pipes immediately in a recipe or move them to an airtight container. Keep them in the fridge and consume them within 3-4 days.
If you want to use hot milk, try thickening it with a roux and incorporating some cheese cut into strips. Use this sauce to season pipe rigate. This way you can prepare the famous American dish called macaroni and cheese
Method 3 of 4: Cooking in the Microwave Oven
Step 1. Put the rigate pipes in a large bowl and pour some water over them
Measure 45-90g of dough into a microwave-safe container. Pour in enough water to cover it about 5 cm.
- The pasta will absorb the water as it cooks, so use a bowl large enough for it to expand.
- These doses make it possible to obtain 1-2 servings. If you want to double them, use a larger bowl and add more water.
Step 2. Place the bowl on a plate and place it in the microwave
Place a dish suitable for microwaves under the bowl so that it can collect any water that may overflow during cooking. Place the plate and bowl in the microwave.
Step 3. Cook the pasta for 11-12 minutes
Turn on the oven, then wait for the water to boil and the pasta to cook. When the timer sounds, check it to make sure it has reached the desired consistency.
If you prefer it well done, let it cook for another minute or two
Step 4. Drain the pasta
Put a colander in the sink. Wear oven gloves to remove the bowl from the microwave. Drain the pasta.
Step 5. Use cooked pipe rigate
Mix them with your favorite sauce or soup. Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
Method 4 of 4: Using Cooked Rigate Pipes
Step 1. Make the cheese pasta
Cook melted butter and flour in a saucepan until thick. Add milk and butter by whisking them; this way you will get a white sauce. Stir in your favorite shredded cheese and pipe rigate.
Pasta with cheese can be served immediately. You can also move it to a baking sheet and brown it
Step 2. Make a flan.
Mix the cooked pasta with shredded chicken, shredded ham, or canned tuna. Incorporate diced veggies and your favorite toppings. Add canned soup, pasta sauce, or beaten eggs to bind the ingredients and place them in a greased baking sheet. Bake the flan until golden brown.
Step 3. Make a cold pasta salad
Cook the pipe rigate and mix them with a salad dressing. Incorporate crunchy diced veggies, shredded cheese, and boiled eggs (or meat). Keep the pasta in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
Step 4. Season the pasta with a sauce
To make a quick lunch, reheat your favorite sauce, such as marinara or parmesan cream. Pour it on the cooked pipe rigate with the help of a spoon and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.
