This article teaches you how to reset your Instagram password on Android, iPhone or iPad devices. If you are already logged into the social network and know your password, you can easily create a new one in Settings. If, on the other hand, you are unable to log in to Instagram, you still have some options: you can change your password using the connected Facebook account (Android only) or ask for a link to reset your password to be sent to one of your addresses and -mail or a phone number that supports SMS.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Reset Forgotten Password on Android
Step 1. Open Instagram on your Android device
This app icon features a pink, orange, yellow, white camera and is usually found on the apps screen. If you don't remember your profile password, you can usually reset it from the login screen.
Step 2. Press I can't sign in
You will see this button below the "Login" button.
Step 3. Select a reset method
You have 3 options at your disposal:
-
Use username or email:
if you still have access to the email associated with your account, you can use this option to receive a link to reset your password.
-
Send an SMS:
If your Instagram account is linked to your Android device's phone number, use this option to receive a password reset link via text message.
-
Log in with Facebook:
if your Instagram profile is connected to the Facebook one, you can reset your password by logging in to the latter. This method only works if you know your Facebook account password. If you have multiple Instagram profiles linked to a single Facebook account, the "Reset using Facebook" option will change the password of the one you linked most recently.
Step 4. Provide Instagram with the information it asks for
You must have access to the email or phone number that you have linked to your account, otherwise this method will not work. If you have decided to reset your password via Facebook, log in to your Facebook profile to confirm your identity, then follow the instructions on the screen to reset your password.
Step 5. Follow the link to reset your password
Once you have received the link via SMS or email, press it to open the web page and create a new password. Once you have confirmed your new passkey, you can use it right away to log in.
- If you no longer have access to the email or phone number linked to your Instagram account, try your best to recover the old email address. If you've forgotten your password, you can usually reset it from the provider's website or by calling customer support.
-
If you still can't log into Instagram, you can send a request to customer service. To do this, try to log in with the last email or phone number you remember, press Forgot password?, then Do you need more help?
to open the service form.
