While it is not possible to easily see posts archived on Instagram using a computer running Windows or Mac, it is possible to open BlueStacks and view the application on a computer. This article explains how to view archived posts on Instagram using BlueStacks on a PC or Mac.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Install BlueStacks
Step 1. Visit https://www.bluestacks.com/ using a browser
Two of the most used are Firefox and Chrome.
This program is an Android emulator, so you can use the applications on your computer just as if you were using an Android device
Step 2. Click on the green Download BlueStacks button
The browser will automatically detect your computer's operating system and download the right version accordingly. A pop-up will appear allowing you to select the folder where you want to save the installer.
Step 3. Click Save
The installer will be saved in the previously selected folder, which will probably be the "Downloads" folder.
Step 4. Click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install BlueStacks
Click on Yup to agree to the changes, should you be asked to do so. Read and agree to all terms before continuing with the installation process.
Step 5. Click Install Now
You will be able to see the progress of the download on a special bar.
Once the application is downloaded, you will see a bar indicating the progress of the installation
Part 2 of 3: Download Instagram
Step 1. Open BlueStacks
You can find it in the "Start" menu or in the "Applications" folder.
- The first time you open BlueStacks, you will have to wait for a few minutes for the program to start.
- The program will ask you to log into a Google account or create one.
- You will see the list of installed applications that you can use with BlueStacks.
Step 2. Click on the search bar
It is located in the upper right corner of the window. A drop-down menu will appear with the list of the most searched games.
Step 3. Type "Instagram" and press Enter
In the search results window, a new tab titled "App Center" will open.
Step 4. Click on "Instagram"
On the Instagram details page, a window from the Google Play Store will open.
If you are not logged into your account or have not created one yet, you will be prompted to do so again. You need to have a Google account to download Android apps
Step 5. Click on the green Install button
Part 3 of 3: Using Instagram to View Archived Posts
Step 1. Click on the green Open button
The Instagram application will then open within BlueStacks. The program window may shrink to mimic the size of a phone.
Step 2. Click Log In or Subscribe.
You can log in with your Facebook account or the email and password you associated with Instagram.
Step 3. Click on your profile picture or human silhouette symbol
It is located at the bottom right of the screen. This button allows you to open your profile page.
Step 4. Click on ☰
This button is located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 5. Click on Archive
This is usually the first menu option and is next to a rewind button symbol. The list of your archived stories will appear.
Step 6. Click on the button with the word Archive of stories
A drop-down menu will open.
Step 7. Click on Post Archive
The list of your archived posts will appear.
Step 8. Click on a post to view it
- The post will load along with all of its original comments.
- To remove a post from the archive, click on the menu icon (represented by three dots) in the upper right corner of the post, then click on Show in profile. The post will reappear on your profile, right where it was originally.
