This article explains how to add an account on Messenger so that you can send and receive messages using different Facebook profiles.
Steps
Step 1. Open Messenger
The icon looks like a blue speech bubble.
If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to do so
Step 2. Tap the profile button
It is a circular button that depicts your profile photo and is located at the top right. This will open your account.
Step 3. Tap Change Account
This button is located at the bottom of the page. A list of all the accounts you have associated with Messenger will open.
If you don't see this option, update the application
Step 4. Tap + in the top right
A pop-up window will open allowing you to add an account.
Step 5. Enter the account information you want to add
You need the email or phone number and the password associated with the profile.
Step 6. Tap Add at the bottom right
A pop-up window titled "Request a password" will appear.
Step 7. Tap Require a password to log into this account from this device
You will need to enter it every time you switch to this account.
If you don't want to enter it every time, tap "Don't require a password"
Step 8. Tap Continue as [username]
The main account screen will open. At this point it will have been successfully added.
- If the "Session Expired" window appears, tap "Ok", then re-enter your details to log in.
- To switch between accounts from the main screen, log in to Profile → Switch account and tap the profile you want to use.
Advice
- Messenger's password is the same as Facebook's.
- You can add up to five Facebook accounts on Messenger.
- For security reasons, always ask for the password to switch accounts.
