This article explains how to find and add friends on Telegram using an Android device.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Search with Username
Step 1. Open Telegram on your Android device
It's the icon of a white paper airplane on a light blue background. It is usually found in the Applications drawer.
Step 2. Tap the magnifying glass at the top right
Step 3. Type the contact's username
A list of relevant results will appear.
Step 4. Tap the name of the person you want to contact
A conversation window will open.
Step 5. Tap ⁝ at the top right
Step 6. Tap Share my contact
Your phone number will be sent to the selected contact so that they can add you to their address book. This will add each other to the contact list.
Method 2 of 2: Find a Contact in a Group Chat
Step 1. Open Telegram on your Android device
It's the icon of a white paper airplane on a light blue background. It is usually found in the App drawer.
Step 2. Tap the group containing the contact you are interested in
The conversation will open.
Step 3. Tap the group name at the top of the screen
The list of members will appear.
Step 4. Tap the name of the user you want to add
Step 5. Tap the message icon
It features a square speech bubble and is located at the top right. Allows you to open a conversation.
Step 6. Tap ⁝ at the top right
Step 7. Tap Share my contact
Your phone number will be sent to the selected contact so that they can add you to their address book. This will add you to each other in your respective contact lists.
