When writing a story, having a convincing character is a fundamental requirement. Nobody likes to read a story where the characters are boring! So make sure you get to know your characters before starting the story.

Method 1 of 1: Create the Character
Step 1. Get a folder
Keep everything you need to know about your character inside. This will allow you to always stay organized. Alternatively, you could create a folder on your computer and write everything using Microsoft Word.
Step 2. Consider basing the character on someone
If it's your first time writing a story or you're not sure you can make the character believable, build it on someone's personality. It could be a friend, family member, celebrity, or even yourself! If you develop it on someone you know, you will know how they will react to situations making your job easier.
Step 3. Think about how your character looks
How tall is he? Do you have an athletic, slender or sturdy build? What color are the hair … and the eyes? How long is the hair? Are they curly, wavy, straight? Use a face maker on the Internet or, if you have the Sims game, create a Sim that looks like him and take several screen shots. You could also study the pictures you find online or in magazines and find someone who can inspire you. This will give you a really strong idea of what the subject of your story might look like. Keep the images in its folder.
Step 4. Know other details about him, such as:
- When is his birthday? How old is he?
- Who are his friends?
- What are your dreams / goals? What would you like to accomplish?
- What is his past?
- Who are the members of his family? Do you have a family? Pets?
- What are your favorite things?
Step 5. Interview your character
Once you've written the essentials, start interviewing him. How does the world look? Pretend you are someone interviewing a celebrity on a talk show. Watch some such broadcasts for ideas and ideas on how to ask him questions. Ask him what you want until you can actually hear it.
Step 6. Make sure you write and place all aspects of the character in his folder
Put it in an easily accessible place so that you can constantly refer to it and have a look at the details as you write. In this way the character will be strong from the beginning to the end of the story, rather than starting decisively and waning as the story progresses. Now you can start your story with a strong and convincing character!
Advice
- Make your character believable. For example, a grandmother would never say "How cool!" But "How cool" or "Nice!" Credible characters should never be always bad, happy or sad. Use a wide variety of feelings and attitudes.
- She doesn't have to pretend to act according to her age. It must be true!
- Don't be afraid to make it human. From weaknesses, flaws and fears.
- Don't do it all in one day. This work can take weeks, maybe even a month, before you really get to know your character.
- Make sure you get to know your character deeply before writing anything serious, otherwise you will be forced to review him entirely.
- Creating a notepad with Evernote is a great way to organize all the information about your character. And since all your notes are stored in the cloud, you can add more from your computer or smartphone if you think of something when you're out!
