When you knit with a ball of wool, sooner or later it will run out and you will have to start a new one. Here are two possible solutions to change the ball for knitting. This article shows the exact steps required to change a ball.
Steps
Step 1. Start at the beginning of a new line for both options
Avoid starting in the center. It will prevent you from having an ugly knot in a noticeable place, like the center of your scarf!
Method 1 of 2: Option One
Step 1. Cut the old wool, leaving about 6 inches of ends
Step 2. Hold the end of the wool and the first 6 inches of the new ball together with your left hand
Step 3. Start knitting with wool
The first point will be a bit weak but can be fixed later.
Step 4. Make about 5 stitches, then stop and tie the ends of the wool together in a small knot
Step 5. Continue knitting to the end of the row
Method 2 of 2: Option Two
Step 1. To change the wool in a different way, tie a slip knot in the new ball of yarn
then pass the old thread through it.
Step 2. Slip the new wool down to the base of the first stitch and tighten the slip knot
You are now ready to continue knitting with your new ball of yarn.
Step 3. Weave the remaining wool ends at the edges
When you're done knitting, you'll have a couple of wool tails hanging down to one side. To hide them it is easy to weave them inside the shirt. Take a wool needle and pass the wool thread through the eye. With the needle, cross the thread in and out of the bulges at the sides or back of your work.
