Even if you have accidentally felted a woolen garment or fabric, there is still a chance that you will be able to increase its size. This simple guide will help you get your woolen garments back to their original size.
Steps
Step 1. Fill the sink with warm water
Step 2. Add a small amount of shampoo and blend the solution
Step 3. Immerse the fabric completely in the soapy water, making sure it is evenly covered in the liquid
Step 4. Leave the fabric to soak for 30 minutes
Step 5. Remove the fabric from the soapy water and rinse it with clean water
Step 6. Stretch out small areas of the fabric
You will need to keep your hands close together, and gradually move from one area to another until the surface of the fabric is completely treated and stretched.
Step 7. Now unfold the fabric again, increasing the distance between your hands (keep them about 30cm apart)
Step 8. Let the garment or laundry dry
Hang it so that the weight of the item continues to stretch the desired parts of fabric (for example if a sweater has felted and shortened, hang it by the shoulders).
