Emails are one of the most important forms of communication in today's digital age. It's how millions, if not billions, of people stay in touch with each other. Fortunately, this near-instant form of communication is completely free. Create a free email address today to start sending and receiving emails immediately. Read the detailed instructions for registering an email address through the most popular email providers on the internet below.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Create a Gmail Account
Step 1. Go to Gmail.com
The first step in creating an email address with Gmail, Google's free email service, is to visit the Gmail website. Type “gmail.com” into your browser's navigation bar or, alternatively, type “Gmail” into your search engine and click on the result you need.
Step 2. Click on “Create Account”
On the Gmail login screen, look for the link to create an account, under the box for entering your email and password. Click this link to proceed to create an account.
Note - if a Gmail account has already been registered on your computer (for example, a family member already has their own address), you will need to click on "Manage account on this device", then on "Add account" and finally "Create account"
Step 3. Enter your personal details
On the next page, you will be asked to enter your name, phone number, date of birth and an alternate email address. Some of these data, such as the alternative e-mail address, are optional.
Step 4. Choose an email address and password
On the same account creation page, you will be asked to choose an address and password. The password you choose must be at least 8 characters long, while your e-mail address must not already be in use by anyone. Enter this information in the appropriate boxes.
You will need to enter the password twice to confirm it is correct
Step 5. Verification
Scroll down until you find an image containing some distorted numbers and a photo of a house number. Type these numbers in the appropriate box - this ensures that you are a human being and not an automated program attempting to register an email address for commercial or illegal purposes.
If, for any reason, you do not want to verify this, you may be prompted to verify by phone later
Step 6. Accept the terms of service and submit your request
Check the box next to "I accept the Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy". This means that you understand and accept these documents, which can be read by clicking on the links. When ready, click "Next".
Step 7. Enjoy your new Gmail email address
Are you done! Click “Continue to Gmail” to access your inbox, read emails and write new ones.
Method 2 of 3: Create an Outlook Account
Step 1. Go to Outlook.com
Outlook is Microsoft's current email client, which replaced Hotmail, Microsoft's previous email service, in 2013. Here you will have the option to register an existing account or create a new one, which we will do now.
Step 2. Click “Register Now”
Below the login box, you should find a sentence that says “Don't have a Microsoft account? Register now”. Click on the "Register now" link and proceed to the account creation page.
Step 3. Enter your personal details and choose a username and password
On the next page, you will be asked to enter your name, location, date of birth and gender. You will also need to choose a username which will serve as your email address followed by @ outlook.com and a password. Your password must be at least eight characters long and is case sensitive.
You will also need to enter your phone number or alternate email address, which are used to retrieve your username and password in case you forget them
Step 4. Verification
Once your personal data has been entered, you will need to verify that you are a human and not an automatic program. Scroll down until you find a series of distorted letters and numbers. Type these numbers in the box below. Since the automatic programs are not able to complete this simple step without difficulty, by doing so you confirm that you are a human being.
Step 5. Click “Create Account”
This completes the creation of your email address. You will be redirected to your new Outlook email address, where you will be free to read and write new emails.
Don't forget to uncheck "Send me promotional offers from Microsoft" before clicking "Create account" if you are not interested in receiving promotional emails
Method 3 of 3: Create a Yahoo Account
Step 1. Go to login.yahoo.com
From this page, you will begin the process of creating a Yahoo ID through which you will be able to access your email address. You can access this login page from the home on yahoo.com by clicking on the purple "mail" icon at the top right.
Step 2. Click “Create New Account”
Clicking the blue button below the "Log in" button will take you to the account creation page.
Step 3. Enter your personal details and choose a username and password
On this page, you will be asked to provide your name, phone number, date of birth and gender. You will also be asked to choose a username, which followed by @ yahoo.com will serve as your email address, and a password. When you're done, click "Create Account".
- Your password must be at least 8 and maximum 32 characters. For added security, it should also contain numbers, upper and lower case. Remember that the password is case sensitive.
- You can also choose to add a recovery phone number, a number that can be used to recover your username and password in case you forget them.
Step 4. You will receive a verification code
At the phone number you provided, you will receive a text message containing a verification code for your account. Enter this code in the "Code" box and click "Send Code" to continue.
If the number you provided cannot receive text messages, you will receive a voice call from Yahoo with your code. Click "Call" under "Send SMS", then provide a phone number that can receive calls and click "Call me". Enter the code received in the appropriate box to proceed
Step 5. Enjoy your new Yahoo account
Are you done! You will be automatically directed to your account page where you can read and write new emails.
