This article shows you how to delete cached temporary internet files from Google Chrome. You can do this both using the browser version for desktop and laptop systems as well as the one intended for mobile platforms.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Version for Desktop and Laptop Systems
Step 1. Launch Google Chrome by clicking the icon
It is characterized by a red, yellow and green circle with a blue sphere in the center.
Step 2. Press the ⋮ button
It is located in the upper right corner of the program window.
Step 3. Choose the item Other tools
It is one of the options located in the middle of the drop-down menu that appeared. This will bring up a small submenu.
Step 4. Select the Clear browsing data… option
It is one of the items on the menu. The "Clear Browsing Data" dialog box will appear.
Step 5. Go to the Basic tab
It is visible in the upper left corner of the window.
If you need to delete the data relating to the websites you usually visit, you will need to access the tab Advanced of the "Clear Browsing Data" window.
Step 6. Access the "Time Interval" drop-down menu
It is located at the top of the window under the name of the "Basic" tab. A list of options will be displayed.
Step 7. Choose the All option
This way you will be sure that all files in Chrome's cache will be deleted.
Step 8. Select the "Cached images and files" checkbox
It is located at the bottom of the "Basic" tab.
- If you only need to clear the temporary internet files in Chrome's cache, uncheck any other currently selected tick buttons.
- If you also need to delete cookies and website data from the cache, also select the "Cookies and other website data" option.
Step 9. Press the Clear Data button
It is blue in color and is located in the lower right part of the window. This will clear all temporary internet files and images in Chrome's cache.
If you have also selected the "Cookies and other site data" checkbox, the versions of the web pages you have already visited will also be removed from the cache, allowing you to load new versions as soon as you access them again. In this case, however, you will be automatically disconnected from all websites where you have authenticated yourself with a user account
Method 2 of 2: Mobile Version
Step 1. Launch Google Chrome by clicking the icon
It is characterized by a red, yellow and green circle with a blue sphere in the center.
Step 2. Press the ⋮ button
It is located in the upper right corner of the program window.
Step 3. Tap History
It is located in the middle of the drop-down menu that appeared.
Step 4. Select the Clear browsing data… option
It is visible as a red link located in the lower left corner of the screen.
If you are using an Android device, you will need to select the item Clear browsing data … located at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Select the time interval (only on Android devices)
If you are using an Android smartphone or tablet, you will need to use the "Time Interval" drop-down menu, located at the top of the screen, to choose the option All.
On iPhone, the indicated option is the default and cannot be changed by the user
Step 6. Check "Cached images and files"
It is located in the middle of the screen. In this way, the images and temporary internet files saved in the Chrome cache will be deleted, freeing up valuable space in the internal memory of the device.
- If you are using an Android device, you will need to access the tab first Advanced visible at the top right of the screen.
- If you only need to clear the temporary internet files in Chrome's cache, uncheck any other currently selected tick buttons.
- If you also need to delete cached cookies and website data, also select the option "Cookies, site data" (on iPhone) or "Cookies and site data" (on Android).
Step 7. Tap the Clear Browsing Data link
It is red in color and is positioned in the central part of the screen.
If you are using an Android device press the button Clear data visible in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 8. Press the Clear Browsing Data button when prompted
In this way, the data chosen and present in the Chrome cache will be automatically deleted from the internal memory of the device. If you have also selected the "Cookies, site data" item, the data relating to the websites you have visited will also be removed from the cache. In this case, however, you will be automatically disconnected from all web pages in which you were authenticated with a user account.
