To find your current location on Google Maps, you must first activate the geolocation services on your mobile or tablet. Google Maps, on the other hand, cannot show your current location on a computer. This article explains how to activate geolocation services to be able to see your location on the app.

Method 1 of 2: Using Google Maps on Android
Step 1. Activate the location services on your Android device
Since Google Maps has to find your current location, it is essential to activate this feature. Here's how to do it:
- Open the application of Settings in the app drawer;
- Tap the magnifying glass icon;
- Type Geolocation in the search bar;

Tap the button next to the entry Geolocation to activate it;
Alternatively, swipe two fingers down from the top of the screen and tap the geolocation icon, which looks like a crosshair
Step 2. Open the Google Maps application
The icon looks like a map with a red pin.

Step 3. Tap the location button
It looks like a blue compass or a needle (depending on the type of map selected) and appears at the bottom right. The map will change based on your current location, which will be marked with a blue dot.
- The blue cone that appears around the blue dot indicates the direction you are facing.
- You can pinch the screen with your fingers to zoom in or out to get a better view of your current location and surroundings.
Method 2 of 2: Using Google Maps on an iPhone or iPad
Step 1. Turn on Location Services in the settings
Google Maps needs to use location services to find your current location. Here's how to activate this feature:
- Open the application of Settings;
- Touch Privacy;
- Touch Location;
- Tap the button next to the entry Location services.
Step 2. Open the Google Maps application
The icon looks like a map with a red pin. You should find it on one of the main screens.

Step 3. Tap the location button
The icon looks like a blue paper airplane (or a blue compass, this depends on the selected mode) and is at the bottom right. The map will be adapted according to your current position, which will be marked with a blue dot.
