If a friend of yours has sent you their real-time position on Messenger, reading this article you can find out how to view it on a map using an iPhone or iPad.
Steps
Step 1. Open the Messenger application on your device
The icon looks like a blue speech bubble with a white lightning bolt inside. You can find it on the home screen or in an app folder.
Step 2. Tap the Home button
It represents a small house and is located in the lower left corner. A list of all your latest conversations will open.
Step 3. Tap the chat that contains the message with the real-time location
Search for your friend's name on the recent chats list and open the conversation.
Step 4. Tap the Live Position option at the top of the screen
This option is next to a blue and white arrow at the top of the conversation. A map will appear from the bottom of the screen.
Step 5. Look for your friend's picture on the map
The thumbnail of his profile photo will indicate his position on the map.
- You can pinch the screen with two fingers to zoom in or out on the map. Move them out of the way to zoom in and move them closer to zoom out.
- If your friend is on the move, their location will change showing constant updates on the map. This way you can track its location in real time.
Step 6. Find and tap the map image your friend sent you
Messenger will close and the "Maps" application will open to show you your friend's location in real time.
If a pop-up window appears to warn you that you are about to quit Messenger, tap "Continue"
Step 7. Tap Directions on "Maps"
It is a blue button located at the bottom of the screen. An available route will be searched between your friend's current location and yours.
