Does the thought of makeup make you horrified? Not all girls want to be stylish - some just want to be like boys. Congratulations! You can break out of the box and be a tomboy by participating in the right activities and cultivating a certain attitude.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Behaving like a Tomboy
Step 1. Befriend the boys
Tomboys often date boys more than girls, simply because they get along better with them because they often have the same interests and do the same activities. Invite friends over for pizza and play "Mario Kart". Alternatively, if your friends are going to a football match, ask if you can join them. Bear in mind that they may tease you at first, but they will stop when they realize that you are an opponent to be feared on the pitch.
You can still be friends with feminine, giggly and shopaholic girls. Being a tomboy doesn't mean you should ditch all your female friends to date guys. The point of being a tomboy is to be respected by the other sex, and to make it clear to everyone that you are not a "prize" or a sex object, but a girl who is a wonderful individual who deserves to be treated well
Step 2. Be physically active
Start practicing a sport (or more than one), rock climbing, or hiking. Throw yourself into the fray - find the fire of competition within you and don't be afraid to sweat. The definition of tomboy is a girl who participates in activities that are usually considered to be a man. To be a tomboy, you should find a sport or activity that excites you, and try to become the best in that field.
Try a truly beautiful sport like martial arts. You'll get a great workout, meet nice people, and learn how to stand up for yourself. Plus your tough points will skyrocket
Step 3. Become a video game master
If sports aren't your thing, try video games. Video games are often considered pastimes reserved for children. Why not teach kids something in the virtual world? Become a Mario Kart wizard and then invite your friends to challenge them on the track.
It's a good idea to find the right balance between competitive and cooperative games. In some cases, you may feel like fighting to the death, but you should also try cooperative games like "Halo" to hone your team play
Step 4. Don't talk about guys with your male friends
Save your thoughts on that beautiful boy for your girlfriends. Your friends don't necessarily want to hear which celebrity you think is prettier or the crush that is being built on the guy in the class with you.
Step 5. Avoid using a too shrill voice
Shrill voices and giggles are often associated with female girls. Find the right volume and tone, and don't grumble. Try to look confident. Swearing doesn't make you a bad boy, so don't abuse it. You may seem fake and corny. You don't have to use terms like "uncle", "brother" or "cool", but if you think they can help you and make you feel comfortable, go for it. Speak as you normally would, but without being too dramatic or shrill.
Step 6. Learn to skateboard or ride a scooter
Girls who date boys who skate are often considered tomboys. Skating is generally considered a kid's activity, so why not learn to go and impress your friends. Long-boarding is also a great means of transportation, particularly if you live in an area that doesn't have many climbs.
You can also learn to ride a bicycle or mountain bike. While feminine girls don't like the thought of getting dirty while biking, cycling is a great way to cover distances and stay fit
Step 7. Don't be afraid to get dirty
As the saying goes, a little dirt never hurt anyone. When hiking or playing sports, don't be too worried about getting grass on your knees or getting your shoes muddy. If mud really sucks you, that's not a big deal. Naturally avoid approaching.
This step also applies to insects. Remember that they can't hurt you (unless they're very poisonous), so you shouldn't be afraid of them. If they scare you, don't scream or run away as soon as you see a spider. Try to conquer your fears. If you are not afraid of bugs and one appears that scares all your friends, volunteer to catch it and take it out. Doing so will show your courage and impress your friends
Step 8. Stay fit
This doesn't mean you need to be super muscular or lift weights like a bodybuilder. Going for a run every day or exercising at the gym will allow you to stay in good physical shape. It's important to be fit so you can keep up with your athletic friends.
Step 9. Learn to take a hit
Guys often make fun of themselves a lot and if you date them, you will certainly be the butt of some of their jokes. Don't take them personally - just argue. Teasing is normal but you will have to make sure you don't go too far or you could make someone angry or make them feel bad.
Part 2 of 2: Having the Look of a Tomboy
Step 1. Wear comfortable, sporty clothes
While tomboys don't necessarily have to wear manly clothes, it is quite common to see tomboys wearing baggy pants and dark colored tank tops. Remember that you should always wear clothes that make you feel comfortable. Wearing loose, masculine clothing will allow you to do any activity without having to prepare. Jeans, a T-shirt and some nice sneakers are the standard attire of a tomboy.
Step 2. Avoid "feminine" colors and too much girlish clothing
Light pinks, purples, and floral things should be banned from your wardrobe. If you want, replace dresses and skirts with shorts and pants. Pants are more comfortable and connote a less feminine personality.
Of course, you don't always have to dress in a feminine way. If you want to wear a suit, go for it! Just because you're a tomboy doesn't mean you have to lose your femininity. You can still dress well if you are a tomboy
Step 3. Wear shoes that allow you to be active
It makes sense to wear shoes that fit your active lifestyle. Invest in a good pair of skater shoes (like Vans) with a nice pattern. Even Converse can be cute and masculine at the same time.
Step 4. Choose the right accessories
To be a true tomboy, you should trade necklaces and bracelets for a nice watch and baseball hat. If you have pierced ears, consider buying some nice stud earrings and avoid pendants you might lose or hang on to something while running around.
Step 5. Don't overdo the makeup
If you decide to wear makeup, go for a more natural look. Choose subtle colors and transparent lip glosses or lip balms. Try to avoid overdoing your eyeliner or putting too much makeup on your lashes.
Step 6. Shop in the kids section
You may be surprised at how many things you can find in the men's section of the stores. Look for t-shirts with cool designs (skater brands, skulls, etc.) and comfortable clothes for training. You will also find comfortable, loose-fitting hoodies and sweaters for the colder days.
- While you're in the boys' section, grab a pair of shorts for your days at the beach. Shorts are less feminine and less revealing than a regular bikini.
- This look may not work for you if you have a very feminine figure. If you have a pronounced hourglass figure, boy's clothes may be uncomfortable. If you have a female body shape you could buy girl clothes that look masculine and not from the men's section.
Step 7. Don't spend too much time on hair care
While there is no "tomboy" hairstyle, tying your hair into a ponytail is a classic and casual style. Ponytails are great for school, for running, or for playing a very intense video game - after all, who wants to have hair on their face?
Sports headbands are also very useful to prevent your hair from always ending up in your face. They work with every style and you can buy in all pharmacies
Advice
- Learn to love music. Don't just listen to the music that is played on the radio. Explore - you will be surprised.
- Be yourself. Don't be afraid to be. Don't force yourself to be a tomboy or act like one. Do what makes you feel most comfortable. And remember, you can still have female friends. Just because you don't behave like that doesn't mean you will have to lose your friendships.
- Make sure you are confident and arrogant. It doesn't mean you'll have to brag about everything, but try to imitate the guys you hang out with. Find a sport that you are talented in and become great. Learn to play tennis to beat all your friends. Don't be afraid and make fun of them.
- If you go to high school, your classmates may think you are a lesbian. Correct them politely if they are wrong. Explain that you simply enjoy being a tomboy or leading an athletic life and don't like typically feminine things.
- Don't worry so much about being a tomboy that you forget you are yourself. You can wear some cute makeup and clothes and still be one of the guys.
- Your intentions are important. If your intention is to look more masculine but not lose femininity, sweetness and refinement, you will not have the genuine lightheartedness of a tomboy.
- Try to learn how to punch like a boy.
- Never be afraid to play children's games like hide and seek, cops and thieves, and fire or water. You could use your imagination and play the Five Nights at Freddy's video game. One player can stand guard and the other the animated plush robots.
