This article describes the best way to teach your dog not to bite.
Steps
Step 1. When your puppy or dog bites you, remove your hand from their mouth
Step 2. Gently keep the dog's mouth closed
Tap it on the muzzle (not too hard) and repeat "NO!". Gradually, your dog will learn.
Step 3. Stop playing with the puppy right away
Cross your arms and shoulders to him or leave the room. This will tell the dog that you don't like it when it bites.
Step 4. After he bites you, do not stroke, strike or offer food to the dog
The fact that he bites means he wants attention. For puppies who are having their first teeth, buy toys that they can chew on (if they don't already have any) so they will be less tempted to bite you.
Step 5. Pay attention to your behavior towards the dog
Different behaviors can change a dog's attitude and make his bad habits worse. This also applies if you punish him.
Step 6. When the dog calms down, try to play with him or give him some attention
If he keeps biting you, get up and walk away (get right out of the room). Eventually the dog will learn that with the bites he will not have any kind of attention.
Step 7. Remember to always reward good behaviors with something positive, such as strokes and compliments
Make sure you always maintain the same attitude. If you don't want your dog to bite your toes, you don't want them to bite your feet either now or ever. Make sure you let your friends know that you are trying to educate the dog in a certain way.
Advice
- You can give it as an order "Don't bite!".
- As you proceed with your training, you will notice that your dog will gradually learn to inhibit its own bites. In this way, the dog will learn to grab only the things you throw at him to play, or even bring you what you ask for (slippers, newspapers, bottles of beer!).
- Notice how puppies react when they play wildly with your dog. If they make sounds with loud peaks, it means they are exaggerating. If the owner makes a sound with the same volume, the puppy will instinctively stop doing what he is doing for a few moments, and then resume playing. If you make sounds every time puppies use their teeth, they will know they shouldn't overdo it.
- Give the dog biting a "deadline". The moment his teeth touch your skin or clothes, give him a warning with a " NoIf he continues, ignore him. Do not send him to other rooms, rather create a gate with a corner where you will let him go when he misbehaves. It will help you ignore him. The dog will begin to understand your message after several times.
-
Keep the dog's muzzle closed and repeat No!
firmly. Don't give up and don't let the dog keep doing what he wants.
- If your dog continues to have negative attitudes and continually wants your attention, he may start to have other habits. If the dog notices that you give him less attention, he will understand step by step that to get it he must behave well.
Warnings
- If you beat your dog when he does something wrong, he may realize that he can only get what he wants by force and that is certainly not what you want!
- Do not spray anything in the dog's eyes.
- Never hit the dog! He will grow up in fear of you and over time he may "retaliate" by hurting you or someone else!
