Converse are shoes available in so many colors that they fit almost any wardrobe. To wear your Converse, try any of the following styles.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Pair them with the Pants
Step 1. Wear the converse over your jeans
It's a versatile look with tons of possible options, for example:
-
Wear your Converse with skinny jeans for a modern look. If you have them high, you can also tuck the hem of the jeans inside the collar of the Converse to show the side patches.
-
Wear them with boot cut jeans for a more discreet look. Longer and wider jeans will show only the tip of the Converse.
-
Wear them with old jeans for an old-fashioned grunge and vintage look. It is a good option for everyday use.
-
Wear them with flared jeans and an embossed top. This is the "hippy" or free-spirited look. Peace!
-
Wear them with baggy jeans for a gangster style. To achieve the look made popular by Lil 'Wayne, slip baggy jeans into a pair of red Converse ankle boots, which shouldn't be tied higher than the ankles.
Step 2. Wear the Converse with shorts
There are several ways to do this:
- Wear shorts and socks of the same color with your Converse. Wear high, red Converse with red half-length socks, for example.
-
Wear short denim shorts and Converse. The tall ones are best for this look, but the low ones work just as well. A nice lacing could also add style to this simple look (see below).
-
Just make sure the shorts are short enough. They won't look good if they're too long.
Step 3. Wear your Converse low tops with rolled-up skinnies for a summery look
Step 4. Wear Converse with any top
Lie on a nice oversized long sweater and wear long leggings that come down to your ankles. This look works great with both high and low Converse.
Method 2 of 4: Wear Dresses and Skirts with Converse
Step 1. The dresses look very good with the high Converse
Just make sure the dress is casual and not too dressy.
Step 2. Wear them with a short skirt (with or without colored leggings) for a feminine look
It's a good option for parties or any other occasion where you want to have a little extra style.
You can also wear shorts like this
Method 3 of 4: Wear Converse with Shorts
Step 1. Choose a pair of white or gray Converse
Step 2. Find a nice pair of shorts
Any color is fine, since you'll wear them with neutral-colored Converse.
Step 3. Buy some comfortable long socks
Don't use those for tennis shoes; use stylish long socks, which reach mid-thigh or slightly below.
Step 4. Match everything
Method 4 of 4: Playing with Laces
Step 1. Try on different lacing for your Converse
- For a neat look, tie a knot behind the shoe tabs and tuck the ends of the laces into the sides to hide them.
- For a casual look, lace up all but the last two eyelets.
- For a scruffy look, loosen all laces and leave them undone, tucking in the ends if necessary.
- For a grunge look, lace high shoes to the end (or near the end), wrap the ends of the laces around the ankle, and tie them without a bow.
- For a clean look, remove the laces entirely, sew the tongue halfway up along the sides, and transform the Converse into slip-on shoes.
Advice
- Buy plant pads if you plan to wear converse every day; frequent use can develop a painful flat plant.
- Many people love to write on their Converse or decorate them. It's a permanent operation, so don't do it if you're not sure you want to!
- It's always good to have an extra pair of Converse to vary and alternate the newer ones with a worn pair. Try them with low or high necks, and even in different colors!
- If you want to clean the white part of the Converse, use the Mr. Clean magic erasers, which work quite well on the Converse.
- Wear Converse that match your clothes. Black Converse are great if you wear a black shirt among other things.
- There are conflicting opinions on whether or not a couple of old Converse are good looking. Many people think they look "well worn", but others say they prefer a nice, clean new pair. Don't be afraid to wear old Converse.
- Some people wear Converse with the laces tucked inside.
- Make sure you don't wear Converse too often or you'll end up overdoing it.
