Hair tattoos are very similar to temporary ones used on the skin. Characterized by aesthetically pleasing and interesting patterns, they help to enhance the hair and hairstyles created. They are perfect for any occasion, from a special evening to the first day of school, and the best part is that they are very easy to apply!
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Prepare
Step 1. Buy hair tattoos
They can be found in the most well-stocked beauty shops and online. Some clothing stores also sell them. Available in packs of 2 or 3 sheets, they resemble temporary skin tattoos.
Step 2. Examine the sheets and choose the design you prefer
Cut out the image with a pair of scissors. You can cut more than one tattoo, but you need to apply one at a time.
Step 3. Peel off the clear plastic sheet
Make sure you only remove it from the tattoo you cut out. Lay the sheet over your other tattoos to keep them clean, protect them from dust and prevent them from sticking.
Step 4. Make sure the hair is straight for easy application
Either way, you can also create soft curls or waves on the lengths, leaving them smooth only at the top. The important thing is that the application area is relatively smooth. This makes the procedure easier and allows for a better result.
Step 5. If necessary, create a hairstyle
If you are only going to pin a strand of hair behind one ear, you can skip this step. If you want to pull them up into a ponytail, bun, braid, or other hairstyle, you should take care of it now. Hair tattoos have a stiff texture, similar to that of stickers. If you try to style your hair after applying the tattoo, you risk tearing it apart and altering the image.
Part 2 of 3: Apply the Tattoo
Step 1. Spray some hairspray on the area where you intend to apply the tattoo, so that it adheres better to the hair
Step 2. Place the side with the image on the hair, facing the paper backing outwards
Keep it tight.
Step 3. Moisten a towel and squeeze out any excess water
Press it on the back of the tattoo while holding it still for 20-30 seconds. Be careful not to move it too much.
- If you don't have a towel on hand, you can sprinkle some water on the tattoo instead. Then, gently hold it still with your fingers for 20-30 seconds.
- The tattoo should be wet, but certainly not soaked.
Step 4. Remove the towel and gently rub a finger on the back three or four times to make sure the tattoo adheres well
Step 5. Peel off the paper support:
at this point the tattoo should have fixed to the hair. It will have a stiff, adhesive-like consistency. Do not touch it.
Step 6. Make another spray of lacquer on the tattoo to secure it and make it last longer
Step 7. Flaunt the tattoo
At this point it will be ready! If you left your hair down, you could tuck a strand behind one ear and pin it to the side with a bobby pin.
Part 3 of 3: Remove the Tattoo
Step 1. The tattoo should last for a few days
Over time it could tear, split and crumble. If it has tired you and you don't want to wear it anymore, remove it using one of the methods listed below.
Step 2. Use a fine toothed comb to remove it
Start from the bottom of the tattoo and work your way up making short, quick and gentle movements. As you comb your hair, the tattoo will get stuck between your teeth.
Step 3. Wash your hair as usual with shampoo and conditioner
The tattoo will crumble or dissolve thanks to the action of water.
Step 4. Since it looks like a sticker, you can also peel it off
Peel off one of the edges on the top. Grab it firmly and gently peel it off by pulling it down. If any residue remains, remove it with a fine-toothed comb.

- Combine different tattoos to create a unique effect.
- The application of these tattoos is identical to that of temporary tattoos for children.
- Apply the tattoo to a section that won't be moved or disheveled too much. The more you touch it, the more you run the risk of making it crumble and fade.
