With the introduction of the new Fairy type in Pokemon X and Y, Eevee received a new evolutionary form, Sylveon. Sylveon is a Fairy-type evolution of Eevee with rather high Special Defense values. Sylveon's evolution method, which takes advantage of Pokemon X and Y's Pokemon-Amie feature, is unlike any other in Eevee. With the right guide, however, it is possible to achieve this evolution in just 10-15 minutes. Start from Step 1 after the jump!
Steps
Step 1. Capture an Eevee if you don't already have one
Since Sylveon is an evolved form of Eevee that cannot be captured in the game, you will need an Eevee to get started. If you've already captured one, you can proceed to the next step, and if not, you'll need to do it now.
- In Pokemon X and Y, you can catch Eevee on Route 10, which is located between Chromlenburg and Highland City.
- You can also catch Eevee in Friend Safari, a zone that uses another player's 3DS Friend Code to spawn an area that contains Pokemon of only one type. Since Eevee is a Normal type, you will need a Friend Code that generates a Normal type safari.
- Finally, you can also get Eevee by trading with another player.
Step 2. Teach Eevee a Fairy-type move
The first requirement for Eevee to evolve into Sylveon is to teach him at least one Fairy-type move. Unlike other Fairy-type Pokemon like Clefable, you don't need a Moonstone to get Sylveon.
- Eevee learns two Fairy-type moves by leveling up: Baby-doll Eyes at Level 9 and Charm at Level 29.
- Note that Eevee cannot learn any Fairy-type moves from TMs.
Step 3. Get two hearts from Eevee in Poké Me & You
The second condition for evolution in Sylveon is that your Eevee must have at least two hearts in Poké You & Me. Poké Me & You is a new feature in Pokemon X and Y that allows players to bond with their Pokemon by caring for them, feeding them, playing minigames with them, and having them play with other Pokemon on your team.
Pamper your Eevee in Poké Me & You until it has two hearts. You can do this either before or after teaching him a Fairy-type move
Step 4. Level up your Pokemon
When your Eevee has at least two hearts and knows a Fairy-type move, level it up. You can do this with casual encounters, challenges with other coaches, and so on. When your Eevee levels up, if you have met the above conditions, it should evolve into Sylveon. Congratulations!
Step 5. Avoid areas with moss or ice when leveling Eevee
There are some areas within the game where you won't get Sylveon by leveling up Eevee. If you don't pay attention to these areas, you could get an unwanted Eevee. Two of Eevee's evolution forms, Leafeon and Glaceon, require you to level up the Pokemon near a rock with moss or an icy rock. Even if you meet the conditions for Sylveon, leveling up Eevee in these areas will result in one of the evolution forms mentioned above. In Pokemon X and Y, the only games released at the time that Sylveon exists, the points to avoid are:
- Route 20, which contains a mossy rock.
- Frozen Cavern, which contains an icy rock.
