Have you just started playing Pokémon X and Y? In the sixth generation of the Pokémon games (X / Y and Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire) Honedge was introduced, a new steel / ghost-type creature that takes the form of a sword. To make it evolve to the second stage, Doublade, that's enough train it up to level 35. Instead, to get him to the final stage, Aegislash, you need one Blackstone.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Evolution in Doublade
Step 1. Find a Honedge on Route Six
If you don't already have this Pokémon, don't worry; it's not hard to find in Pokémon X and Y. Search the Path Six, the area that connects Route Seven to Palazzo Profumo. It is marked by two rows of trees on either side of a central path. However, to find Honedge you have to reach the tall grass behind the trees, entering the palace courtyard and exiting immediately via one of the side paths.
- Note that Honedge appears about 15% of the time in tall grass. You will probably have to fight a few Oddish and Sentret before you encounter the Pokémon you seek.
- Honedge can also be obtained in Alpha Sapphire / Omega Ruby, but only through an exchange. You won't find the Pokémon in tall grass in those games.
Step 2. Capture Honedge
You don't have to follow a special strategy to catch this Pokémon on Route Six. Once you encounter him in battle, reduce his HP (without defeating him), then throw your best Poké Ball. You'll encounter Honedge levels 11 or 12, so the combat shouldn't be too difficult. However, here is some useful information:
- Honedge is weak against specter, fire, ground, and dark attacks.
- Honedge is immune to normal attacks, grappling, and poison.
- Honedge takes normal damage from water and electro attacks.
- Honedge takes reduced damage from all other types.
Step 3. Train Honedge to level 35
You can do this with traditional methods, continuing to make him gain experience points gradually. Since you will catch this Pokémon at level 11 or 12, you will need to raise it about 23 or 24 levels for it to evolve. It can take some time, so to speed up the process you can use these items that increase the gain of experience points:
-
Share Exp.:
This item divides the experience of battles between all Pokémon on the team and not just those who participated. You can get it from Alexa in Novartopolis after defeating Viola.
-
Lucky egg:
the Pokémon holding this item receives 150% experience from battles. You can find it in a few different places:
-
- showing the girl in the foyer of the Temper City hotel a Pokémon with a high level of friendship.
- by completing level 2 of Clear Graffiti in the PokéMile Club.
- by catching a wild Chansey in the Friendship Safari.
-
Step 4. Don't stop the evolution
Once Honedge reaches level 35, it will begin to evolve into Doublade. There are no time or item-related requirements for evolution, which should happen automatically.
Method 2 of 2: Evolution in Aegislash
Step 1. Find a Dark Stone in the Climax Cave
You cannot evolve the Doublade you just obtained into its final form, Aegislash, with normal training. Instead, you have to use a special evolutionary item called "Black Stone". You can find it in a few places in the game, and the easiest to get to is the Climax Cave (which you can access from Route 18).
- Note that you can't enter Route 18 until you've defeated Team Flare and Lisandra in their Chromlenburg Lair, so complete that mission before heading into the cave to search for the Duskstone.
- Inside the cave you can find the Dark Stone in the second underground level, on the far left of the map. You will see it to the left of an Iron, on a stalactite.
Step 2. Alternatively, get the Dark Stone from the Secret Virtual Super Training
This minigame gives you another chance to acquire the item you want. You have to pass level six "Warning! It's a dangerous second half!". By defeating the computer controlled Aegislash you will win a prize; Dark Stone is one of five possible rewards.
- You can access the training mini-games at any time from the bottom screen of the 3DS. You'll find them to the left of the Player Search System and to the right of Poké You & Me.
- Remember that only fully trained Pokémon can participate in the Secret Virtual Super Training.
- Passing the level as quickly as possible increases the chances of receiving a rare item like the Dusk Stone.
Step 3. Use another solution to get a Dusk Stone
There are a few other ways to acquire this item in Pokémon X and Y. They are not as simple as the ones described above, but they are worth mentioning:
- A Dusk Stone can be obtained by completing level three of Burst the Balloons in the Pokémile Club.
- You can get a Dusk Stone by defeating Psychic trainer "Inver" with a score of 7-9. In these encounters, the advantages and disadvantages of Pokémon types are reversed. The score is the number of "super effective" hits you make, minus the number of "not very effective" hits. Dark Stone is one of ten possible rewards for a score of 7-9 (along with all other evolutionary stones).
- You can get a Dusk Stone by defeating a Team Flare Grunt in Romantopolis, but only after beating the Elite Four.
Step 4. Use the Dusk Stone on Doublade
Once you've got the item you're looking for, evolving Doublade is simple. Just use the stone on the Pokémon to start the animation. Congratulations, you now have an Aegislash!
- This consumes the Dark Stone, so think carefully before using this rare item.
- There are no level requirements for Doublade to evolve this way, but you may decide to wait until the Pokémon has learned all the moves you want. In fact, Doublade can learn some moves by leveling up that Aegislash won't learn. Click here to open a web page listing all the moves Doublade can learn.
Advice
- You can train Doublade up to level 51 to learn Holy Sword before evolving it! This move deals a lot of damage, ignores enemy defense and evasion bonuses. However, Aegislash cannot learn it by leveling up, so if you evolve Doublade too soon, you will miss the opportunity to learn it.
- Aegislash has the unique ability to switch from Shield to Blade form. The Shield form gives a great bonus to Defense sp., While the Blade form boosts Attack sp.
