Minecraft can be modified, or "modded", to achieve improvements and to increase the number of options available within the game. Many different mods can be downloaded, which can then be installed once you have checked that they are safe files.

Part 1 of 2: Finding a Site to Download Mod
Step 1. Remember that modifying Minecraft can cause problems for the game, it may even stop working properly

Step 4. Search through the available mods
Read the descriptions to find a mod that can be useful for you to modify the game to your liking.
Part 2 of 2: Download a Mod
Step 1. Find the link to download the mod of your choice
Since there is no official site for mods, the link may be located in various places on the site.
Step 2. Click on the link and follow the download instructions
There may be advertisements and pop-ups. Be careful to click only on the file you want to download and nothing else.
Step 3. Approve the download of a jar file
Be careful if your download contains other types of files, as they may contain viruses or malware. If the file was downloaded automatically, go to the downloads folder and check the extension.
You may need to unzip the file to be able to check its format. Files are often compressed to reduce download times
Step 4. Scan the downloaded file using your antivirus to make sure it's not dangerous
At this point you can install the mod.
Advice
- Mojang, the creator company of Minecraft, doesn't officially support mods. It will therefore not provide you with assistance in case the changes cause problems with the game.
- On the download page of each mod you should be able to find the corresponding instructions. Make sure you read them and always follow them.
