This article explains how to change the transparency level of an image inserted in a slide of a presentation created with Microsoft PowerPoint using a Windows computer or a Mac. Using a PC, you can insert an image inside a shape and then edit it. transparency. On Mac, you can change the transparency of an image without first having to insert it inside an additional object. The mobile version of PowerPoint does not offer the ability to change the transparency of images.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Windows

Step 1. Open a PowerPoint presentation using your computer
You can open an existing document or create a new one.

Step 2. Click the Insert tab of the PowerPoint ribbon

Step 3. Click the Shapes button

Step 4. Select the shape you want to insert on the slide

Step 5. Click on the point where you want to insert the chosen shape, then drag the mouse cursor, without releasing the left button, to draw the figure of the desired size
In this way, the shape you have chosen will be created inside the slide at the indicated point.
- Make sure that the figure you drew has the correct aspect ratio, based on the image to be placed inside. Otherwise, the photo will be deformed.
- Once you have drawn the shape you have chosen, you can change its size and aspect ratio. To perform this step, click on one of the white anchor points along the perimeter of the figure and drag the mouse pointer until the shape has taken on the look you want.

Step 6. Click on the Format tab of the PowerPoint ribbon
It will appear in the upper left of the toolbar when the shape you just drew is selected.
If the shape is not currently selected, click on it with the mouse

Step 7. Click on the Shape Fill option, visible in the "Shape Styles" group of the "Format" tab
It features a paint bucket icon. A drop-down menu will appear listing all the colors and fill options.

Step 8. Select the Image item from the "Shape Fill" drop-down menu
It is visible at the bottom of the appeared menu. A new pop-up will appear containing options for using an image in the shape you drew.

Step 9. Select the From file option in the pop-up

Step 10. Select the photo you want to use

Step 11. Click on the image displayed inside the shape with the right mouse button

The list of image formatting options will appear on the right side of the window.

Step 13. Click on the icon depicting a tilted paint bucket
It is located in the upper left of the "Shape Options" tab of the "Format Picture" panel.

Step 14. Find the Transparency slider inside the "Fill" section
If the indicated option is not visible, click on the icon

Step 15. Use the "Transparency" slider by dragging it left or right

Alternatively, you can change the transparency level of the image by typing the corresponding percentage in the appropriate text field

Step 16. Click on the image in the form with the right mouse button
A pop-up will appear.

Step 17. Select the Contour item from the appeared menu
It is located in a separate panel, visible at the top of the pop-up that appeared when you right-clicked on the image. It is located next to the "Style" and "Fill" options.

Step 18. Select the No Outline option from the menu
This way, the outline of the shape will no longer be visible and only the image will remain visible.
Method 2 of 2: Mac

Step 1. Open a PowerPoint presentation using your computer

Step 2. Select the image or shape you want to make transparent
