This article shows you how to find the SSID (Service Set Identifier) of a wireless network, which simply identifies the name of the Wi-Fi network to which the device you are using is connected. When connecting to a wireless network, the SSID represents the name of the Wi-Fi network itself. Finding this information is very simple, as you just need to access the Wi-Fi network connection settings of your device and search for the network name.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Windows systems
Step 1. Click on the icon
related to wireless network connection.
This will display the complete list of all Wi-Fi networks in the area.
- If the wireless network connection icon is not visible, click on the symbol ^ located inside the notification area of the Windows taskbar.
- If there is an "x" next to the wireless network connection icon, select it, then press the button Wifi to activate the wireless network connection.
Step 2. Find the name of the network your computer is currently connected to
It should appear at the top of the list of networks available in the area, accompanied by "Connected".
Step 3. Review the SSID of other available Wi-Fi networks
Inside the small dialog box that appeared there is a list of the names of all the wireless networks in the area. Each of these names represents the SSID of the network it refers to.
Method 2 of 2: Mac
Step 1. Select the icon
It is located in the upper right corner of the Mac desktop.

If the icon is present
it means that Wi-Fi connectivity is disabled. Select it with the mouse and choose the option Turn on Wi-Fi.
Step 2. Find the name of the network your Mac is connected to
This is the name characterized by the symbol ✓ placed on the left. The name shown also represents the SSID of the Wi-Fi network to which the system is currently connected.
Step 3. Review the SSID of other available Wi-Fi networks
Inside the small dialog box that appeared there is a list of the names of all the wireless networks in the area. Each of these names represents the SSID of the network it refers to.
