On this page you will find instructions on how to use the Windows XP search feature. You can also follow these steps for Windows 98 or Vista and for Mac OS X, with some changes. The secret to finding images is to give your folders strategic names.
Steps
Step 1. Launch the Search utility
Start-> Search-> Files or folders. If you have given sufficiently detailed names to your folders, you will be able to find them very quickly with the Windows search. No other special programs will be needed.
Step 2. Click All Files and Folders in the Search utility window
You may ask: why not use the Pictures, Music or Videos option? With this option you would find specific files and not folders. Usually you will want to find the folder that contains the images, so you will need to search for the folders.
Step 3. Enter your search parameters
Make sure you select Pictures (or your pictures folder) in the "Look in" field. Otherwise the search will be extended to the whole computer. In the "All or part of the file name" field, enter the event or place you are looking for. If you have given the correct names to the folders, you will find them very quickly. Enter something like: birthday, grandma, Paris. You will also be able to enter only part of a word (for example comple) and the search utility will still find matches.
