Everyone needs a site, but how do you get a site and domain without spending a fortune? Simple: you just have to find a free web hosting service. A free web hosting company will provide you with a free site and a place to keep all the site files needed to get you online. You can use this method for both personal and professional reasons. So how to get a free domain? Find out by reading the article.
Steps
Step 1. Look for a free web hosting service
You can also write "free site" or "free web hosting"; it's more or less the same thing.
Step 2. Open some links from the search result
Unfortunately, you will have to choose from hundreds of results.
Step 3. Take a look at the ones that are truly free
Some sites claim to be free just to appear in search engine results, but when you go to the site, they ask you to pay for something, write posts, or do some other nonsense like that.
Step 4. Find a web hosting service that offers you what you need
In other words, if you have a small site, don't get hosting that offers 100 gigabytes of space. You will never use it and it will become problematic to manage in the long run (I explain it better below).
Step 5. Find a web hosting service that offers you decent storage and bandwidth, email and maybe some pre-installed applications
They will save you a lot of headaches later on. If you want to install Wordpress, for example, it is much easier to find a site that makes you install Wordpress with one click instead of downloading, loading, unzipping, installing, configuring, etc.
Step 6. Find a site that is easy to register on
Some sites ask you to write 50 posts in their forums before actually registering, and this verges on ridicule. If you can't sign up and start building your site right away, skip ahead and look for a better web hosting service.
Step 7. Find a service that offers a free domain
Some companies offer free domains on the site interface, but make sure they are truly free.
Step 8. Look for a hosting service that allows you to build the site if you need it
If you have no experience building websites out of thin air, sign up for a hosting service that allows you to build the site. Listen to me, it's much easier than creating pages one by one with a program.
Advice
- Don't get confused with the so-called "Post to Host" sites, which ask you to post in the forum to get access to a free space. After a while this becomes very annoying. Obviously, don't listen to this advice if you can't wait to post in the site's forums.
- Choose a hosting service that offers a free domain. This way you don't have to look for one, because you will find it there, at your disposal.
- Sites that offer unlimited everything are called "over sellers" because they offer something they don't really want you to use. As soon as you start using too much storage or too much bandwidth they will kick you out on the pretext that you are violating their rules. Then there are also those who offer very little; your use of the service will therefore be limited. Don't get confused with them either.
- Find a web hosting service that offers a fair amount of storage, bandwidth, and email, without too much exaggeration. Sites that offer storage space, bandwidth etc. unlimited will only give you problems.
- Find a hosting service that allows you to use your own domain (if you already have one), that gives you a free domain (from any company that offers free domains), that gives you a free domain in their control panel, or that have a free subdomain if you don't want to waste time checking all domains. Subdomains are the simplest solution if you are not a geek.
