Using the 'Wordle' web service, creating these kinds of images will be very simple. You can use 'Wordle' to visually represent the presentation of an article or document, or as part of your blog or website. Let your creativity run wild by creating your own personalized 'Wordle'!
Steps
Step 1. Connect to the Wordle website
Wordle generates 'word clouds' using plain text or the content of the website indicated. The end result is fully customizable to allow you to change layout, color, font and much more.
Step 2. To get started select the 'Create Your Own' link
This way you will be able to type the text to use to create your 'Wordle'. You can paste a piece of text copied from a file or type the URL of a website that uses RSS feeds or Atom feeds.
- Make sure you type the words into the text field and remember to separate them with a space.
- There is no limit to the number of words you can enter.
Step 3. When finished press the 'Go' button to create your 'Wordle'
A random 'Wordle' will be generated based on the words provided or the site content indicated. Press the 'Randomize' button to regenerate the 'Wordle' with new settings.
In order to view your 'Wordle' you will need to install the Java plug-in on your computer. If you don't have the latest version of Java, you will need to upgrade
Step 4. Edit your 'Wordle'
Once you have created the 'Wordle', you can start customizing it. You will see several menus available at the top of the window, which will allow you to edit and customize your 'Wordle'.
- The 'Language' menu allows you to remove words written in a certain language. If you wish, you can also change the use of uppercase and lowercase characters for the words you have entered.
- The 'Font' menu allows you to choose from a large variety of font formats. The font you choose will be used for all the words that make up your 'Wordle'.
- The 'Layout' menu allows you to select the maximum number of words to use, the shape your Wordle should have and the orientation of the individual words.
- The 'Color' menu allows you to change the 'palette' of colors used to display the words that make up the 'Wordle'. You can choose your palette from a predefined list or create your own.
Step 5. Share your 'Wordle'
When you have finished customizing your 'Wordle', you can print a copy or save it in the public gallery. Wordles can be viewed by anyone, so make sure you don't use any personal information when creating them.
