This article shows you how to update the Google Chrome internet browser on computers and mobile devices. Google Chrome updates are usually installed automatically, but you can still manually check for a new version of the browser and install it. You can do this both on mobile devices, by accessing the store linked to the operating system, and on a computer, using the appropriate section "About Google Chrome".
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Version for Desktop and Laptop Systems
Step 1. Start Google Chrome by clicking its icon
It is characterized by a red, yellow and green circle with a blue sphere in the center.
Step 2. Press the ⋮ button
It is located in the upper right corner of the browser window. The Chrome main menu will appear.
- If an update is available, the icon of the button in question will turn green, yellow or red.
- On older versions of Chrome the button in question will be represented by the icon ☰.
Step 3. Choose the Help option
It is one of the last items on the menu starting from the top. This will bring up a small submenu.
If the option is visible at the top of the browser's main menu Update Google Chrome, select the latter item instead of accessing the "Help" submenu.
Step 4. Select the About Google Chrome option
It is the first item of the new menu that appeared.
Step 5. Wait for Google Chrome to be updated
In most cases this step should only take a few minutes.
If you see the text message "Google Chrome is up to date", it means that there are currently no new updates to install
Step 6. Restart Google Chrome
Once the updates have been installed, you will see the button appear Restart. Press it to automatically restart the browser. Alternatively, you can simply close all the program windows and reopen them. At this point Google Chrome will be updated to the latest version available.
You can check the status of Google Chrome at any time by accessing the "About Google Chrome" page and checking for the "Google Chrome is updated" message located at the top of the tab
Method 2 of 3: iPhone version
Step 1. Go to the iPhone App Store
It features a light blue icon with a stylized white "A" inside it made using a variety of writing tools. Normally it is visible directly on the Home of the device.
Step 2. Go to the Updates tab by touching the icon
It is located in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 3. Press the Update button next to the Chrome app
Within the "Pending Updates" section visible at the top of the page there should be the Google Chrome app icon. In this case the button Update it will be positioned exactly to the right of the latter.
If the Google Chrome icon is not present in the "Updates pending" section, it means that the program is up to date
Step 4. If prompted, enter your Apple ID login password
This will automatically update Google Chrome.
If you are not asked to enter your Apple ID login password, the Chrome update process will begin immediately
Method 3 of 3: Android version
Step 1. Go to the Google Play Store
It features a white icon with a multicolored triangle inside.
Step 2. Press the ☰ button
It is located in the upper left corner of the screen.
Step 3. Choose the My apps and games option
It is visible at the top of the menu that appeared on the left side of the screen.
Step 4. Tap the Google Chrome app icon
It has a circular shape and is characterized by the colors green, yellow, blue and red. It should be visible within the "Updates" section. This way the program will be updated.
