Now that Hotmail users have moved to the free Microsoft Outlook platform, they can log in and out of their account at Outlook.com. This article explains how to sign out of your Hotmail email account on Outlook.com. It also shows you how to log out of all devices at once by changing the Microsoft password.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Log Out in a Browser
Step 1. Visit https://www.outlook.com using a browser
If you are logged in, your mailbox will appear.
- It is not possible to exit the Outlook application on an Android, iPhone or iPad device. On a phone or tablet, you can only log out by removing the app and installing it again.
- This method allows you to exit only the currently open session. If you're signed in on another computer, phone, or tablet, you'll stay signed in unless you log out of all devices.
Step 2. Click on your username
It is located in the upper right corner of the inbox.
Step 3. Click Disconnect
This option is found at the bottom of the menu.
Method 2 of 2: Log Out of All Devices
Step 1. Visit https://account.microsoft.com/security using a browser
Using this method, you will log out of all devices connected to Hotmail. You can access the website from a computer, phone or tablet.
Log in with your Hotmail username and password if prompted to do so
Step 2. Click Change Password
This is the first button on the left side of the page and is flanked by a key symbol. By changing your password, you will ensure that you close all open sessions.
Step 3. Enter your current and new passwords
By clicking on the corresponding text fields, the keyboard will be activated and you will be able to type passwords.
Step 4. Click Save
If you connected to Hotmail on other computers, phones, or tablets, you will be logged out of all devices at this point.
