This article explains how to automatically forward calls to voicemail using an Android device. Use the call forwarding feature if you are looking for a long-term solution, or select flight mode for a shorter period of time.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use Call Forwarding
Step 1. Open the "Phone" application
It looks like a telephone handset and is usually found on the home screen.
Step 2. Tap the menu icon
It is usually located in the upper right corner. Look for the symbol ⁝, ⋯ or ≡ (varies by phone).
Step 3. Tap Settings
Step 4. Tap Call Settings
If you don't see this option, browse the menus until you find "Call forwarding".
Step 5. Tap the name of your carrier
Step 6. Tap Call Forward
A list of divert options will appear.
Step 7. Tap Always divert
Step 8. Enter the direct number to the voicemail
The number varies depending on the telephone operator. If you're not sure which one it is, check the documents the company gave you or contact customer service.
Step 9. Tap Activate or Skills.
From now on, incoming calls will be diverted directly to the answering machine.
To disable this feature, go back to "Always forward" and select "Disable" or "Disable"
Method 2 of 2: Using Airplane Mode
Step 1. Drag down the notification bar
This bar is located at the top of the screen and displays various icons and information, including the time. A list of icons will appear.
Step 2. Tap Airplane mode
The icon looks like a crossed out or gray aircraft. When airplane mode is activated, all calls will be diverted to the answering machine.
- If you don't see it, swipe down again to expand the icons.
- Tap the airplane mode button again to start receiving calls again.
