This article explains how to restore Android contacts that you have deleted. You should first check if they have been hidden rather than deleted. In case they have actually been removed, you can restore them from your Google account, as long as they have been backed up within the last 30 days. If not, you will need to use a third-party recovery program.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Search for Hidden Contacts
Step 1. Open the "Contacts" on your device
The icon depicts a human silhouette. This app can be found in the app drawer or on the home screen.
Step 2. Tap ⋮
It is located at the top right. This action opens a pop-up menu.
Step 3. Tap Contacts to View
This option should be at the top of the pop-up menu.
On some Android devices you must first tap "Settings" and then "Contacts"
Step 4. Make sure "All contacts" is checked
If not, tap it and look for missing contacts. Instead, if "All contacts" is checked, you will have to proceed with restoring the deleted ones.
Part 2 of 3: Using Google Backup
Step 1. Open the Google website called "Contacts"
It is located at the following address: https://contacts.google.com/. This method only works if your Android contacts have been synced with Google's.
If you are not logged in to Contacts, you will be prompted to enter your email address and / or password before continuing
Step 2. Click on More
This tab is located on the left side of the page.
Step 3. Click Cancel changes
This option can be found in the section titled "More". This will open a pop-up window with different backup dates:
- 10 minutes ago;
- An hour ago;
- Yesterday;
- 1 week ago;
- Personalized: enter a number in the "days", "hours" and / or "minutes" fields to revert to the date you prefer.
Step 4. Click on a backup schedule
It will then be set as a restore option.
- For example, selecting "1 hour ago" allows you to restore all contacts deleted between now and the previous 60 minutes.
- Keep in mind that all contacts added between now and the selected restore point will be deleted from your phone.
Step 5. Click Confirm
It is located at the bottom right of the window titled "Undo Changes". Your contacts will be restored in an instant.
Part 3 of 3: Using EaseUS MobiSaver
Step 1. Go to the EaseUS MobiSaver download page
It is located at https://www.easeus.com/android-data-recovery-software/free-android-data-recovery.html. If you are unable to restore deleted contacts with Google's backup feature, you will need to use third party software to try to save them.
Step 2. Click the Free Trial button
It is a blue button located in the center of the page. This way the file will be downloaded to your computer.
Step 3. Install MobiSaver
The process varies by computer:
- Windows: click twice on the installation file, follow the instructions that appear on the screen and click on "Finish" when installation is complete;
- Mac: open the installation file, then drag MobiSaver to the "Applications" folder.
Step 4. Open MobiSaver if it doesn't open automatically
Just double click on the MobiSaver icon, which looks like a blue box.
Step 5. Connect the Android device to the computer
Use the USB charging cable that came with your mobile or tablet.
Step 6. Click Start
MobiSaver will start scanning the Android device.
Step 7. Wait for the scan to finish
You can monitor its progress by looking at the bar at the top of the MobiSaver window.
Step 8. Click on the Contacts tab
It is located at the top left of the MobiSaver window.
Step 9. Click on the checkboxes next to your contact names
To restore all the contacts in the list, just click on the checkbox next to "Name" at the top of the page.
Step 10. Click Restore
This button is located at the bottom right. This will open a window where you can select a place to save these contacts.
Step 11. Select your Android device to save them
In this window, the Android device should appear among the various save options, although it may be necessary to scroll down to see it.
Step 12. Click Ok
The contacts will start to be restored on Android.
