Steps
Method 1 of 3: 7th Generation iPod Nano
Step 1. Press and hold the Sleep / Wake and Home buttons on your device at the same time
Step 2. Wait for the Apple logo to appear on the screen
The screen will turn black and the Apple logo will be displayed. This step should take approximately 6-8 seconds to complete.
Step 3. Now release the indicated keys
The iPod Nano should complete the reboot procedure and return to normal operation.
Method 2 of 3: 6th Generation iPod Nano
Step 1. Press and hold the Sleep / Wake and Volume Down buttons on your device at the same time
Step 2. Wait for the Apple logo to appear on the screen
The screen will turn black and the Apple logo will be displayed. This step should take at least 8 seconds to complete.
Step 3. Now release the indicated keys
The iPod Nano should complete the reboot procedure and return to normal operation.
Method 3 of 3: 5th Generation or Earlier iPod Nano
Step 1. Move the Hold switch to the "Unlock" position (indicated in white color)
Step 2. Press and hold the device's Menu and Select keys at the same time (the device is visible in the center of the iPod Nano)
Step 3. Wait for the Apple logo to appear on the screen
The screen will turn black and the Apple logo will be displayed. This step should take at least 8 seconds to complete.
Step 4. Now release the indicated keys
The iPod Nano should complete the reboot procedure and return to normal operation.
Advice
- If the procedure to force restart your iOS device does not work, try to fully recharge the battery by connecting it to the computer or the power supply, then try restarting it again.
- If after you force restart your iPod Nano, the problem you have been experiencing persists, it is very likely that the only solution is to reset it.
