Ready for a new trendy look? You don't have to run to the hairdresser every time you want to change your hairstyle. Cutting bangs at home is easier than you think! This article will tell you how.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Side Bangs
Step 1. Wash and dry your hair
Comb them as usual, using a hair dryer, straightener or curling iron. It is important to dry them and arrange them as usual to avoid cutting the bangs so that they look bad once the hair is styled.
Step 2. Find where the bangs will start
Look in the mirror and tilt your head to the side. Place a comb on top of the head and find the place where it begins to curve down towards the forehead. This is where your bangs should naturally start.
Step 3. Create a "V" shape with the front of the hair
Use the comb to pull the hair forward over the forehead starting from the point identified in step 2. From this point the legs of the "V" will extend towards the temples. The hair that falls inside this V shape is the one to cut to create the new bangs.
- Make sure you don't collect too much hair. A fringe that extended past the temples on either side would give you an old-fashioned look.
- It is also wrong to put too little hair together. The bangs should look nice full, not thin.
Step 4. Pull the remaining hair back into a ponytail
Once you've gathered your "V", pull the rest of your hair back to avoid cutting it. This way you can be sure you don't accidentally cut the rest of your hair.
Step 5. Decide on the length of the bangs
The side bangs are a bit longer than in other styles, because you have to wear it on the right or left side. If it were too short, it wouldn't fall gracefully on your face. Aim for the length of the bangs to reach the center of the nose when styled straight. If you want it shorter, you can always cut longer.
Step 6. Pull the hair between your fingers
Use your middle finger and index finger to pull the hair out of your head. The part to be cut should extend evenly from the fingers. Place it in front of your face, so you can easily reach it.
Step 7. Cut the hair at an angle
Use a pair of scissors to cut the hair extending from your fingers at a slight angle. This will give a more natural look than a straight cut. Keep cutting along the line of hair extending from your fingers until all of them have fallen out.
Do not use nail scissors or safety scissors to cut hair. It is very important to use professional cutting scissors. They have a sharper edge and will make the cut that much nicer. Using other types of scissors would make the fringe look ruffled
Step 8. Check the bangs
Arrange it on the side you like best and see if you like the length. If you want it a little shorter, repeat this process and cut another 6 - 12 mm. Don't cut more now - it's very easy to end up with too short bangs!
Step 9. Use a make up brush to pull the hair out of the face and neck
Enjoy your new look!
Part 2 of 3: Parade Bangs
Step 1. Wash and dry your hair
Comb them as usual, with a hairdryer or a straightener. This way you can ensure that the way you cut your bangs fits your hairstyle.
Straight bangs look good on straight, thin hair. If you have wavy or curly hair, use a straightener to straighten the bangs. Also apply an anti-frizz serum if you have unruly locks
Step 2. Use a comb to bring the hair forward
The fringe should start 2-4 cm from the hairline and should completely cover the forehead.
Step 3. Pull the rest of the hair back
This way you can avoid cutting too much.
Step 4. Decide on the length of the bangs
The bangs can fall to any length from above the brows to just above the lashes.
Style your hair to see what the bangs would look like at different lengths before making the cut
Step 5. Use your non-dominant hand to grasp the hair by the ends, keeping it taut
Make a horizontal cut, making the bangs one cm longer than you would like when finished.
Step 6. Use your other hand to cut
Cut horizontally, making the bangs slightly longer than you want it to be. At first it is always better to exceed in length.
When cutting a fringed bangs, it is very important to use a good pair of cutting scissors. Using another type would make you look as if a preschooler had cut your bangs
Step 7. Fix it
Brush your bangs with a comb to spread it across your forehead. While holding the scissors upright, cut the bangs to the length you want, starting from the middle of the bangs towards the ends.
The bangs should be slightly shorter in the center and slightly longer at the sides. This helps it to arrange itself more naturally on the forehead
Step 8. Tousle the bangs with your fingers
Check that it is even by cutting any unruly locks.
Step 9. Use a make up brush to pull the hair out of the face and neck
Enjoy your new look!
Part 3 of 3: Trim the Bangs
Step 1. Tie your hair back with a rubber band
Leave only the bangs free. This will keep your hair out of the way, preventing you from accidentally cutting it too much.
Step 2. Comb the bangs so that it flattens across the forehead, even if you normally put it to the side
Step 3. Decide how short you want it
Hold the comb just above the length you want to achieve. Try to leave it long at first. You can always go back and cut more.
Step 4. Tighten the bangs
Use your fingers to hold where you want to cut it. Your fingers should fall right over where you will make the cut.
Step 5. Start from the center of the fringe
Hold the scissors vertically and cut from the center to the right side of the fringe. Cut from the center to the left, then go back and cut from the center to the right.
The bangs should be slightly shorter in the center and just a little longer on the sides
Step 6. Gently untangle the bangs
Check if all the locks are cut to the same length by ticking the longer ones.
Step 7. Use a make up brush to pull the hair out of the face and neck
Enjoy your new look!
Advice
- Only cut bangs when your hair is completely dry.
- A faded and diagonal fringe is difficult to manage. It is a style that looks best on those with naturally straight hair.
