Mirror, mirror of my desires, who is the fairest in the realm? Have you moved and there are no mirrors? Oh-oh. Problem solved! That's how.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: With the Silver Card
Step 1. Take a piece of silver paper
Something that is bright and reflective enough. Cut it to the size you need. Kitchen aluminum foil is perfect.
Step 2. Glue it to a piece of wood or cardboard
Whatever type of glue you use, distribute it evenly. If you use the hot one be careful, getting burned is not a fun part of DIY.
Step 3. Take a piece of glass and place it on top of the silver paper
This will make the work more "professional" and will prevent the reflective surface from being damaged. Glass in a picture frame will do just fine.
Step 4. Design a beautiful frame
It could be cardboard, cardstock, fabric, or any other material that can be used for the border. Add glitter, bows, beads or any other available decoration.
The easiest method is to use a pre-made frame and decorate it as you like. Get a cheap one, paint it with spray paint, add some papier-mâché, customize it however you want
Method 2 of 3: With steel
Step 1. Take a piece of steel and cut it
This operation requires tools and a good deal of skill, so if you don't have either of them, use a different method.
Or use steel in the form in which it is found, of course. You can always cover the edges and hide the parts you don't like
Step 2. Polish it
You can use a professional product or take oil and flour from the kitchen. Be that as it may, don't skip this step! It will make the mirror more shiny and beautiful.
Step 3. Cut the mirror into the desired shape and size
Evaluate its weight when you decide how big to do it.
Step 4. Add a nice frame
Here is the mirror! In the photo sequins were used to draw a bird, but let your creativity run wild! You can add fabric, beads, bows or any material at your disposal.
Method 3 of 3: With a Silver Spray Paint
Step 1. Get the materials you need
The work will be easier if you have everything ready and space available. You will need:
-
A frame with glass.
-
Images you like.
-
Mirror spray paint.
-
A brush.
-
Scissors.
-
White glue.
Step 2. Cut the photo and brush it with glue on the front
It will have to adhere to the glass. It will be easier for you if you put the glue in a plastic basin and use a brush to spread it. You will need to make a thin, even layer.
-
Rather than using too much glue, use too little! You certainly don't want lumps to form on your mirror. When applying the glue, use old newspapers to protect the table.
Step 3. Place the photo nicely behind the glass
If it's dirty, take it out of the frame and clean it. Make sure it's clean before applying the photo! A wipe with a glass cleaner and a cloth is all it takes.
Step 4. Get out of the house and spray the paint
The smell is a bit toxic (literally), so stay outdoors. Apply as many layers as possible evenly.
-
Let it dry for 15 minutes. After this time, turn the mirror and see how it came under! If you are not satisfied, apply a little more paint.
Step 5. Put the glass back into the frame
Make sure all sides fit together. Done! Hang the mirror on the wall or place it on a shelf.
