Sometimes it is difficult for a girl to dress up as a boy. First, the hair might come out of the hat, or it might say something to another person that sounds weird from a male. This article will help girls dress up as boys, whether it's for Halloween or for other reasons.
Steps
Step 1. Cover your head or cut your hair
In the movies, girls just hide their hair in a hat, but it usually doesn't work in real life (although it can sometimes happen). Find a wig and hide the hair. Then buy a hat with an image (as long as it's not too feminine).
Step 2. Find some clothes
Go to the men's section of a store and pick your size or look for a men's suit in your closet. Make sure the shirt is loose fitting (you can also wear a strapless bandeau or tight bra to hide your breasts), and straight jeans that hide your curves. Wear a pair of boy shoes (black or similar, not girl's!)
Step 3. Talk like a boy
Boys don't say "Mamma mia!" or "Cute", and it is very important. Say things they would say, like "friend" or "sick" or swear a lot. Then imitate a male voice, speaking in a deeper tone, but not so deep that it sounds fake. Ask other friends what they think of your male voice. Generally imitation of a boy's voice is terrible, so try to make a voice that is low, but still yours; avoid falsetto.
Step 4. Behave like a boy
And make sure you look like a boy… Guys fight, play sports and show scars like trophies. They don't giggle, they don't check their nails or touch their hair. Also, when sitting or standing, they take up a lot of space. Instead of crossing your legs, try to spread them apart and lean back a little. You also stand up differently.
Step 5. Use boyish things
A guy doesn't have a pink cellphone or a purse, of course! A boy would carry around other things. How you hold things in hand also helps. Hold things less gracefully, more comfortably. Guys like simplicity.
Step 6. Don't act like an elementary school kid
A primary school kid would burp and hate girls. Guys like girls. This is definitely a good way to allay suspicions.
Step 7. Don't worry
If you are really worried about pretending to be a boy, you will understand when your voice is so deep that it sounds fake and when you accidentally say "Mamma mia". Practice for a few days and then tell yourself that it's just a day like any other.
Step 8. Don't wear makeup
You probably think it can help, or you know a way to use makeup to look more masculine, but that's not the case. Leave your face as it is (don't even wear concealer and foundation!).
Step 9. Don't listen to girl music when other people are around
Listen to male singers more than women.
Advice
- Make sure you have removed all your nail polish, makeup, and that you are not wearing any jewelry.
- See how the boys talk and walk and try to imitate them.
- Wear ripped jeans, it'll make you look active (and guys usually are!)
- Ask a guy how to behave. This may not be accurate compared to how the guys you will be dating behave, but this article has the typical, average guy in mind.
Warnings
- There will be people who will notice and look at you weird. Ignore them and enjoy their confusion.
- Don't imitate another guy to try to harass and threaten him, or you'll likely get caught and arrested! Act like a kid from another school or one who is home from school, but never impersonate him without his permission.
